Candy's POV

After closing for the day, I decided to take the bus half way home and then walk the remaining distance. It's a lovely evening to walk and get things off my mind. I need my energy back to work tomorrow. I was so tired when I got home to my one room apartment. I decided to have a long warm bath, find something to eat and call my mom and best friend, I needed to talk to Jenny.
After my bath, I made myself spaghetti with the remaining sauce I have left, with a glass of white wine for dinner.
I called my mom, Emily, she stays in Florida while I moved to New York since I got a job from J Smith Enterprise. To her, Florida is like home since she lived all her life there. I decided to set up a small flower shop to keep her busy and happy. I sometimes miss her so much. She is my best friend.
"Hello love" she sounded so happy.
"My pretty sister" I usually call her that because she looks younger than her age and people refers to us as sisters when we go out together.
"How are you mom, so happy to hear from you. I have missed you so much".
"Miss you too honey" she chuckled. " how are you and work over there? I hope all is well and good".
"Yes, and you, how is your flower business too".
"Doing great, I have made so many new friends and customers now".
"Nice mom, good to hear that, I will find time to visit you one of this days".
"Will be happy to see you, dear, I hope you are coming with your boyfriend?" she asked
"Mom...." I whined, and she started laughing. she has been asking me to get myself a boyfriend.
"Got to go, mom. I love you, will talk to you later". I decided to end the call early before she starts with the boyfriend issue again.
"Okay love, bye".
"Bye, kisses" I ended the call with a smile.
I dialed Jenny's number, my best friend. I tell her everything. we 've been together since high school and she is the trouble maker among the two of us. She fights my battle for me. what I mean by that is you step on my toes and you get it from her. lol. She works as a beautician in New York too. We sometimes have sleepovers to gossip.
"Hello, buddy".
"Hello trouble, how are you love."
"I'm fine so tired, just came back from work, and you".
"Exhausted too, just spoke to mom too. I moved to the CEO floor today as his assistant on projects for the time being since he is new".
"That's my girl, I can see you are doing fine at work. Promoted to the CEO's floor. You should have a little romance with the boss while you are there".
I laugh at her comment, she is naughty as ever. " You will never change, you cheeky girl".
"That's why you love me" she replied, "I guess there is more to tell me, spill it out now".
"Remember the what I told you about the misunderstanding I had at the get-together party this last weekend?"
"Yea, about the hot guy"
"Guess what, he turns out to be the new CEO. there you have it, BAAM"
The line went silent for a while and then she started laughing. "Oh my-my, this is awesome news".
"What is? you better stop laughing or drop the call right now"
" So what happened, gist me, dearie," she asked
" He was basically staring at me almost throughout the introduction meeting we had with him this morning and then he asked my boss for me to be his assistant. I embarrassed myself during the introduction time because I was so nervous". I said, frustrated at my fumble today.
"I smell office romance, girlfriend I think he has a thing for you"
"Do you think its revenge for what I did to him at the party. Jenny, I slapped my boss. I had my heart in my mouth throughout the meeting" I signed
"Well I think it either revenge or he has a thing" she replied laughing at me " my advice, go for it girl"
"Common be serious" am really nervous here.
"Okay okay, girl, I don't think it is revenge. I think he likes you since the party. He won't be so petty to seek revenge, I think. I would say go with the flow and see where this goes. we cannot say anything in particular for now. You will have to wait, if anything happens, trust me you will know what to do. And am always here for you. Okay" she advised.
" That's why you are the best, you give the best advice. I love you girl" I said smiling, she always knows what to say.
" Hey pumpkin, I love you too. Get ready to get your heart stolen by your boss. Office romance is the best". hmmm, she will always say something silly after a good advice.
"Gotta go, bye" She ended the call before I could say anything. I just looked at my phone smiling.
"Cheeky girl".
I could not tell her about the fact that he had an effect on me.
