Dedicated to -_-2cool4u who insisted I do this :)

The smell of salt wafted to my nose. The grainy sand pressed into my feet and would probably be imprinted there later. The occasional shell caused a stab of pain through my leg. I barely noticed this as bubbles and bubbles of joys burst inside me. A gust of cool, salty wind blew a strand of hair away from my face. I licked my chapped lips, and did it again to cleanse it of any lingering salt. I knelt down, dug my hand into the sand, and clenched my fist. When I opened it, I inspected the sand, now in lumps. It was cool and grainy to my touch, and pale grey in the moonlight. Tiny bits of shells stood out, adding bursts of pale reds and oranges to the lumps in my hands. Grinning I looked up, and cocked my head.
I was here, here at the beach!

The area was bathed in moonlight. Small waves gently lapped the pale grey sand. Further back the waves were not as gentle. They rode like horses towards the shore. But the stormy black steeds soon became tame beasts, turning silver in the moonlight. Curiosity came upon me like the high tide. What lay beyond those dark horses, farther than the naked eye could see?

A spray of water drew me back to earth, to the beach. The cool liquid made my skin tingle with anticipation. I wanted to be there. In those silver waves, in those cool waters. Gingerly, I stepped into the waves, and awaited an icy cold blast to shoot through my feet.

It never came only a cold, yet pleasing sensation crept over me. A wave receded back into the depths of the stormy, black ocean. As it did so, the sand around my feet parted, only to be replaced again, when another wave washed upon the shore. What else lay in those dark waters, hidden away in the ocean? I shook my head, and sighed. There were somethings I may never know.

Tilting my head, I looked towards the skies. They were beautiful tonight. They were filled with stars, winking at me, as if we shared some kind of joke no one else knew of. There was also the moon, halfway done with its cycle. In all its pearly white glory, close to its peak.

Sadly, I bit my lip, knowing what should be done next. The tide was now fairly high, and the ocean could be dangerous, unexpectedly dangerous, when it wanted to. Slowly, I turned around and trudged away.

Away from the silver beasts, and dark horses.
Away from the grey sand with its pale shells.
Away from the salty breeze
- never looking back.

This is the first time I've posted anything... And I can't believe I just did it!
