He gazed at the sky.
Colors merging. Reds, oranges, yellows. Dripping into one another to form a breathtaking picture. It was hard to see a wonder such as this, only in a few select spots in the city perhaps.
It's likeness to life was strikingly similar. Both, truly beautiful. Both covered in grey, ugly, boring clouds. One could only see the sky's true splendor if one went out of his way. It was the same for life. Smeared with ugly deeds, and cruel intentions. Grey and boring for all, but those few who strove to see the brighter colors.
Looking down at the streets, he couldn't understand how the people in those tiny cars, walking on the minuscule streets, could be content with living under the smoky grey clouds, never seeing daylight, never seeing life.
It was all the same.......
Even for him. Well mostly.... He had seen the reds, blues, greens, and yellows that life had to offer. He had been happy. Then he was pulled down... down under the grey clouds by people who wanted to see the sun, but never managed it, and never wanted anyone else to.
He had been pulled down, and never regained the strength to see the stars again....
He knew he shouldn't do it. Still it was tempting, so tempting... All he needed was a couple more steps, and it would stop hurting.
Just a couple of steps....
No!!!
There was the sun. He just had to get strong enough to climb up there again and his life would glow in the light of the sun.
He took a step.
No!!
There was the moon. Proof that one could shine in complete darkness.
He took another step.
No!
There were the stars. Small bits of glowing happiness in his dark, miserable life
He took another step.
No.
There were only black clouds. Clouds that were killing him slowly, suffocating him, torturing him.
He took another step.
Yes.
Then he was falling.
Falling.... Falling.... Falling....
The wind roared in his ears, and blew in hair into his eyes, ripping his breath away. The tiny cars growing as he fell headfirst towards the roads down below.
Growing...... Bigger, and bigger, and bigger.
Until the earth shattering impact.
Until a heart stopped beating.
Until a boy stopped breathing.
A boy who would never gaze at the sky again.
