Today our group of friends are heading to the beach and the pier later tonight. It was apart of our back to school ritual. Summer went by in the blink of an eye.
I was getting ready for the beach when there was a knock on the door. I run down stairs to find my boyfriend.
"Hello my queen." he hugged me picking me up.
"Hello my king." I say kissing his lips.
After we exchange our hellos, we drive to Montgomery's where we were all meeting. The drive was short, and sweet. We shortly arrive and he crew is already there. We get out the car, figure out the arrangements before heading to the beach.
"Okay; Sheri, Hannah, and Zach with me. Jess, Justin with Ashley and Jeff. Clay and Alex with Tony. Okay, Okay!" Montgomery informed us.
We all shout out 'okay' randomly while walking to our designated vehicles. Not long after we were on our way to the beach. We were driving to the beach following behind the cats intro to of us, I sat in the passenger seat holding Jeff's hand. The music was lightly playing in the background.
"So Ash, how are you two doing?" Jess asked me from the backseat.
"We are doing good! Spent the entire summer together." I said as realization hit me.
Wow! We really did spend the entire summer together. Of course I spent some days with Montgomery but the majority of my summer was with Jeff. I'm not necessarily complaining because it was the best summer yet, and I got to spend it with the person I care about the most.
"Carsons! Baby girl we're here." Jeff said lightly shaking me, smiling at me.
"I love you." I say kissing him.
"I love you. Beautiful." he replied between kisses.
We got out the car a few minutes later walking to the beach finding our friends. I set down my bag and grab my beach chair and a book. I sit down open the first page and begin reading.
The day passed on, as we all sat around joking, talking, and having a genuinely good time. In the middle of a conversation some of the boys decided to throw a football around and the girls went to play volleyball. I wasn't in the mood so I stayed back and continued reading my book."Carsons."
"Atkins." I smiled looking up to his tall, tan figure.
"Why aren't you playing volleyball?" he asked concerned.
"I want to read my book. Is that too hard to believe?" I chuckle.
"Nope, are you having a good time at least?" he asked me sitting down beside me.
"Yeah, I'm just used to it just being you and me." I told him setting down my book, turning to face him.
We sat there for a couple more hours just talking to each other, enjoying each others presence. It felt like every other day this summer, and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the fact that my summer was filled with laughs, jokes, dates, and over all good times.
Around 6 we decided to get ready for the pier. We all walk to the stalled bathrooms and wait in line. I didn't go swimming so I just went a changing stall and changed my clothes.
After everyone was finished changing and ready to go get some food, we piled back in our vehicles. We had the radio turned up when my favorite song came on, Pretty Girl by Maggie Lindemann. I turn up the radio, roll down the window and start belting out the lyrics. Jeff, Jess, and Justin soon join me.
"I CAN SWEAR, I CAN JOKE
I SAY WHAT'S ON MY MIND,
IF I DRINK, IF I SMOKE
I KEEP UP WITH THE GUYS,
AND WHEN YOU SEE ME HOLDING UP MY MIDDLE FINGER TO THE WORLD,
FUCK YOUR RIBBONS AND YOUR PEARLS
'CAUSE I'M NOT JUST A PRETTY GIRL!" we shout out loud more than actually singing.Around eight we arrive at a diner about a mile away from the pier. We walk in and get seated at a table.
"So you're not just a pretty girl?" Montgomery asked.
"Shut up you know it's my favorite song." I state.
"Wait you heard us?" Jeff asked.
"I'm pretty sure everyone in the world heard y'all." Clay laughed.
We all chucked and continued on with our dinner.
