We finished eating dinner, and decided to sit around the table and talk for a while. We ended up talking about the new school year heading our way, and what are plans were. Of course it was our senior year, and most of them don't know how to act.
After we were done talking we needed up leaving, and heading to the pier where we had already planned to go.
We all walk out of the diner and walk to the pier. When we get there we bye tickets for the carnival planning ahead.
Jeff and I were walking hand in hand behind our group of friends. In front of us you had Monty, Zach, Toni and Sheri joking around. Jess and Justin wrapped in each other's arms. And Hannah and Clay joking around, laughing at each other, and holding hands.
We were walking and stopping at the little tents they had set up for the vender's. We were walking past them when I came across a picture that looked really familiar. I guess Jeff noticed the confused look resting on my face because he asked me.
"Hey, is everything okay?" he asked looking concerned.
"Yeah, it's just that picture." I said pointing at the couple walking on the beach in the sunset.
"Oh yeah, I took that early this month. Those are my friend Bill and Jules Carsons. It was for their baby pictures. Jules is pregnant, so the couple asked me to take baby pictures to tell their families. Them being my friends, I agreed." he said picking the picture up.
I held the picture in my hand, so couldn't believe it. My mom was pregnant, and they weren't drug addicts like my grandparents told me. A tear slipped down my face, as I prepare myself for the question I'm about to ask.
"Excuse me, sir?" I ask the man, grasping his attention.
"Yeah?" he said looking at my sad face.
"The couple in this picture, when did you first meet them?" I asked him.
"I don't remember the exact year, but when I had met them they were just getting over something big." he said, thinking back in time.
"Were they stable? Like did they look like druggies?" I asked curiously.
"No, they were perfectly stabled." he said.
"Thanks. Um beautiful picture. We should probably get going now!" Jeff said handing the picture back, and tugging my away. He protectively wrapped his arms around me, shielding me from the truth that was floating in the air.
"Are you okay?" Jeff asked me, stopping our walking.
"I'm not going to let them ruin my life. Ruin my night. Ruin my friendships and my relationship." I said wiping my tears.
I wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him into a hug as he picked me up off the ground. I pull away from the hug as he sets me back on the ground, and he leans to kiss my swollen lips.
After our little break we connect hands again, and attempt to catch up to our friends who were ahead of us. At ten we needed up heading to the carnival. The same carnival Jeff took me to on our first date, together.
"CAN WE PLEASE GO ON THE WOODEN ROLLER COASTER, PLEASE?!" I beg jumping up and down like a kid on Christmas morning.
"YES!" Almost everyone agreed.
I took off running to the line, dragging Jeff behind me, almost as if he had a choice to come.
••Changing P.O.V to Jeff••
She dragged me behind her after excitedly jumping up and down begging to ride the wooden roller coaster first. After arriving to the line, she let go of my hand soon finding herself with Sheri, Jess, and Hannah; while I stayed back with the guys.
"You're staring." Montgomery said pulling me out of my dream.
"Bro, I just love her so damn much." I said smiling, thinking about her.
"You make her happy. The happiest I've ever seen her." Monty said, but was cut short, as Carsons grabbed our hands dragging us on the ride, to sit by her.
We get on the ride, and Ashley is talking to us waiting on the ride to start. She was taking to Monty when I heard her bring up the painting.
"Hey Mont, I have a question. Earlier when we were walking the pier, we came across a photographer. He had a picture of a man and a women. The lady was pregnant." she was cut off.
"It was your parents, wasn't it?" he asked, knowing where the conversation was headed.
"Yeah..." she trailed off.
"We have dinner with your grandparents tomorrow, do you wanna talk about it then?" Montgomery asked.
"Yeah. You're still coming tomorrow, aren't you?" she asked, making sure.
"Yeah! Of course, every year." he said just before the ride took off.
