It was one when we decided to leave the party. I was riding shotgun, Jeff had his hand on my lap. I had the music turned up and was singing my heart out. I looked over at Jeff singing to him. I look at him smiling as he chuckles towards me.
We were driving for what felt like minutes sheen we arrived to a field. I look over to Jeff and see him smiling at me. He tilts his head as I crawl out my side of the car. I meet him at the front of the car taking his hand following behind him.
We walk down this path lit with fairy lights. I follow behind him checking out the scenery.
"Age four, I met you in kindergarten. I always loved playing with you on the playground." he said handing me a white rose.
"Jeff..." I said astounded.
"Age five we both started playing ball at the same recreation. Coincidently having practices in the same days decided we wanted to be friends." he said handing me a trophy.
"Age six, we had to choose out our jersey numbers before the season started. You chose 7, I chose 7." he continued handing me a number 7.
I laugh as we continue on our walk.
"Age 10. It was my birthday party. My mom forced me to invite you. With me having a crush on you, I was scared and didn't know what to do." he rambled on.
"Age 13, you and Montgomery dressed up as twins to school for Halloween. I was jealous because I thought y'all were more than best friends. Age 16, we had the same classes and grew closer. Age 17, I decided it was time I grow up and talk to you." he said fumbling with his fingers.
"Atkins what are you?" I was cut short.
"Ashley Carsons, I've liked you for the longest. You're real. You don't care what others think and you aren't mean to others. You're not stuck up. You're not fake. You're you. Your smile brightens up my day, my world. You laugh makes me smile for hours. The thought of you being happy makes me happy. I'm glad I had the opportunity of growing up with you, and I'm glad I had the opportunity of being the one to make you happy these past weeks. Don't listen to what anyone says about people not caring, because I promise one person will always care for you...me. Ashley Carsons will you be my girlfriend?" he asked stopping at a lit up heart in the middle of the field.
"Jeff Atkins I would love to. Because you make me the happiest girl in the world. When I'm with you time stops around me, I forget about my surroundings because all that matters is you. I don't know where I'd be right now if I didn't have you. Thank you." I said kissing him on the moonlight.
