"WHAT DO YOU MEAN? MY PARENTS WEREN'T DRUGGIES? SO WHY THE HELL DID THEY WALK OUT ON ME!?" she screamed tears streaming down her face.

"Sweetheart, your parents had you at a young age, they weren't ready to be parents. They asked for a way out, but we wouldn't let them. One morning we woke up to a knock on the door, and a note laying there. Your parents left you for a new start. We're sorry hunny we just didn't know how to tell you." her grad mom said comforting her.

"They still don't want me?" she asked barely audible.

"Hunny, we call them every night. They don't answer. A week ago we received a picture in the mail. The same picture you saw at the pier." her grandpa said getting up grabbing the postcard.

Dear Mom and Dad,
Thank you for every thing you do for Ashley. She is so lucky to have you. We are sorry we couldn't be better parents to her, but that is in the past. We are happy now, we are expecting in September. Please leave us alone. We don't want Ashley, she belongs to you now. Please mom and dad, leave us be. We will love her see down one day, but until then...

She drops the picture running out the house, to the backyard. No one knows where she is headed, except one person. Montgomery De La Cruz.

"Go after her man." Monty told Jeff exactly where she went.

••
I was waking through the woods behind her grandparents house trying to find where Monty said she would be. I eventually come across this treehouse. I hear a sniffle and know she's up there.

I climb the ladder that leads the the middle of the building and open the door. I climb in and comfort her.

I was holding her in my arms, my hands tangling through her hair. I listened to her quiet sniffles, it broke my heart watching her hurt like this. She didn't deserve it, and there was nothing I could do. I was pulled away from my thoughts by her quiet voice.

"Why? Why don't they want me? What did I do so wrong, to lose both of my parents?" she asked tears beginning to stream down her face again.

"I don't know princess, I wish I could give you an answer but I don't know." I said trying my best to comfort her, as a tear streamed down my cheek landing in her hair.

She didn't deserve this. She didn't deserve to be abandoned, betrayed, hurt, unloved. She didn't deserve to be crying on the floor of a treehouse because her parents didn't want her.
We continued to sit there. I continued to comfort her, while listening to the tiny whimpers that would leave her mouth in the midst of her cries. I couldn't help but think back to this morning, and how the day started out perfect.

•• Flashback to the morning ••

It was morning time, I had just woken up to Ashley in my arms as usual. This time we were at my house. I decided to take a quick shower as she laid comfortably in my bed. I head to the restroom, taking a quick shower so I could return back to Carsons as soon as possible.

Once I had finished my shower, I entered my room and found Ashley and Montgomery.

"Hey bro." I said greeting him, as he stood from my chair, doing a little handshake.

"Your mom let him up, I guess y'all are here for dinner with my grandparents?" Ashley asked stretching and grabbing clothes from her duffle bag.

"Indeed we are!" Monty chirped.

"Well if you don't mind, I'm gonna go take a shower. Then get ready so we can go." she said leaving us behind as she went to go prepare herself for the day ahead.

Montgomery was sat in my chair, as I sat on my bed. We were in the middle of a conversation about today, I didn't know how to act. I was nervous, not for seeing her grandparents but about the picture we saw at the pier. Ashley woke up happy, she looks genuinely happy today and I just have this bad feeling about the truth behind the picture.
Ashley soon finished her routine allowing us to leave my house at twelve. As long as we drove the speed limit, and didn't have to make any unnecessary stops we would make it to her grandparents house in time.

We were in the car on the way to our destination. We had the music playing in the background as we all sat in comfortable silence. We eventually arrived to her grandparents, we did make it on time so that's the good news.

We walked into the house and talked our heads off. Approximately an hour passed and we were eating lunch like we planned. We had a little conversation going in the middle of lunch. After everyone was finished eating, Carsons brought up the picture leading us back to now. Back to the tree house. Back to a broken girl, with the biggest heart, and worst parents in the world. Back to my love who was hurting and there was little to nothing I could do about it.

•• End of Flashback ••

I was holding her in my arms looking up at the sky. She was laying in my arms, drawing imaginary circles in my stomach beneath my shirt. I played my fingers through her hair, thinking of ways I could make her feel better.
I keep thinking about how sad she is, and how once again it hurts me seeing her this way.
We lay there until Montgomery came and got us. We sat there looking up at the sun and the bright blue sky. We climb down the ladder and head back to her grandparents house, it was amazing to see the way she changed her attitude so quickly. She was laughing at our jokes, when Monty decided to run up behind her and scare her. She was now chasing him down the trail when she caught up to him jumping on his back, demanding a piggy back ride.

She had her arms wrapped around his neck, while his hands grasped under her legs for support. I ran in front of them taking a picture of them without them knowing.

We eventually made it back to her grandparents house, we were there for about twenty minutes before we ended up leaving. Our day wasn't over, on the way home Ashley had the idea of getting frozen yogurt.

I pull into the parking lot of TCBY, putting the car in park we all descend from the vehicle making our way inside. We grab our cups and prepare our yogurt, once we were done we all walked back up to the counter as I paid.
We sat down at a table. Laughing, Joking and having a good time while enjoying our yogurt.

It wasn't long before the day eventually turned to night. We dropped Monty off at my house so he could get his Jeep. Once Ashley knew Monty was safe and had gotten in his vehicle, I pulled out the driveway heading to her house.

We arrived home around ten o'clock. Both of us extremely exhausted from the days activities we head straight to bed. I crawl into bed first, she crawls in after me. I wrap my arm around her kissing her temple before drifting off the sleep.
