DAY 4:
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
ربي اشرح لي صدري و يسر لي أمري...
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Day 4 is finally upon us! Alhamdulillah for this blessing!
Dhikr of the Day:
اللهم إنك عفو تحب العفو فاعفوا عنا
Allahuma innaka afuwun tuhibul Afwa fa3fu3ana
O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness , so forgive me.
You might be saying this du'a almost every day since Ramadan started. Alhamdulillah for that; but today we will single it out for some special action that will accompany it.
Action of the Day
It's easy to say, but really tough to practice:
Forgiving the one who wronged you. That's what we will do for today.
Take few minutes to think of the person/people who wronged and who is/are still doing bad to you, yet you are having patience. Yes! Those people in your mind right now... You need to forgive them. Expel the anger from your heart!
Allah forgives our mistakes what about you to your fellow human? I know for some may be thinking, "What?! I will never, ever, ever, ever forgive so-and-so for all the suffering he/she put me through..."
Well, you might be right. It's not easy to forgive, but you can try to forgive. Just forgive for Allah's sake. Everyone in this world has some person/people who make their tempers rise whenever they meet them. It’s the inbuilt anger for what they did to you. Having anger is something normal, but don't exceed the limit.
How to know if you have forgiven someone:
Let's look at what we mean by forgiving. It simply means: Letting go of the hatred/pain that was engraved in your heart because of something that was done to you which hurt you. Just let it pass. Don’t think about it over and over, again and again.
Remember: The one who forgives has the highest rank in the eyes of Allah. Whoever doesn't show mercy to others, Allah won't show mercy to him,as per an authentic hadeeth. Have mercy on the person who wronged you by forgiving.
When I asked you to remember who wronged you, did the person do it this year or around the time of last Ramadan? If your answer is last Ramadhan; and whenever you remember that, you still feel angry about it, then, my friend, you haven't let it go. You still have it in your heart and haven't fully forgiven.
It's true that it's not easy to forget what was done to harm you; but surprisingly, we (humans) easily forget the good that was done to us...
Whenever you remember someone and what he/she did to you and you find yourself reacting in a negative way towards it, then you haven't forgiven.
For today, we will take time to cleanse our hearts. What's the benefit of fasting while you have grudges against someone? Fasting is supposed to make you free of sins, as per the hadeeth:
من صام رمضان إيماناً و احتسابا غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبه.
Whoever fasts Ramadan out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah's rewards, then all his past sins will be forgiven.
Ramadhan is the cleansing month for our souls, so that we can make the best out of it. What's the use of allowing angers and grudges to control your life and behavior and weigh you down? Life has to go on. It's your choice to let the anger stay in your heart and bring you more pain or to let it go and live this life full of happiness to please your Lord.
Thinking about what was done to you doesn't make you move ahead in life. You end up carrying it with you and it doesn't benefit you.
Jazakumillah khairan. Have a blessed day.
Smile; let go of it and move on in life.
