DAY 2:
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته،
ربي اشرح لي صدري و يسر لي أمري....
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Alhamdulillah, day 2 has arrived!
Dhikr of the Day
اللَّهُمَّ انفعني بما علمتني وعلمني ما ينفعني وزدني علما
Allahumma infa’any bima alamtani wa alimny ma yanfa’uni wa zidny ilma
Oh Allah! Benefit me through what you teach me and teach me what is beneficial for me and increase me in knowledge.
Action of the Day
Today we'll be learning the etiquette of making du'a. Many of us don’t realise we are doing it the wrong way. Islam didn’t leave us without any directions.
According to the following Hadith:
Al-Tirmidhi (3476) narrated that Fadaalah ibn ‘Ubayd (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: Whilst the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was sitting, a man came in and prayed and said, “O Allaah, forgive me and have mercy on me.” The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “You have been too hasty, O worshipper. When you have prayed and are sitting, praise Allaah as He deserves to be praised, and send blessings upon me, then call upon Him.”
According to another version (3477): “When one of you prays, let him start with praise of Allaah, then let him send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), then let him ask whatever he likes after that.”
Then another man prayed after that, and he praised Allaah and sent blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “O worshipper, ask and you will be answered.”
Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 2765, 2767.
We learn that we should:
1. Praise Allah using tahmeed, tahleel, tasbeeh, etc.
2. Send salutations on the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
3. Ask whatever you like with Ikhlas (sincerity).
NB: Use Allah’s names and attributes to invoke to Him during your du'a, as advised in the following ayah:
“And (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allaah, so call on Him by them, and leave the company of those who belie or deny (or utter impious speech against) His Names”
[al-A’raaf 7:180]
Jazakumillah khair
