i didn't think it meant much, you know.
you and i.
i thought perhaps we was just a soppy card on valentine's day, or a box of chocolates at christmas.
i thought we was just smiling sheepishly across the room at each other, and holding hands under the table.
i thought that we was simply the walks home together, and downing cheap beer at midnight.
i thought that we was just drunk dancing by the lake, and lying on the grass to watch the stars skate.
i thought that we was the silly exchange of words at 4am, and the sleepy talks first thing in the morning.
i never thought it would be your heart in mine, roped to each other by obsidian chains.
i never thought that i would see you in that light, with your hair looking like fire, the entire ocean in your eyes.
i never thought that i'd see you one day and realise you were the art that my deepest desires sculpted onto a page.
i never thought that you would rest your bones on me, and lay your head upon my chest.
i never thought that i would long for you, like the skyscrapers long for the clouds, and the moon longs for the stars. exactly how my hand longs for yours in mine, and sends shivers down my spine.
you see, i fell messily, dangerously, chaotically,
but not once did i regret falling in love.
- i fell straight for you.
