"We're one and the same, we're anything but ordinary. One and the same, I think we're almost legendary, you and me the perfect team..."
I jolt in surprise at my phone ringing.
Crap, what time was it?
I quickly glance at my watch and saw that it's a few minutes till eight.
Crap how long was I out for? I haven't slept this long in months.
"We're one and the same, we're anything but ordinary..." I quickly grab the phone before it rang to voicemail again. I know it's Adri since that has been our ringtone for each other since we became best friends. I also know that I'm in some serious trouble.
"Adri..." I said sheepishly.
"Don't Adri me! I've been calling you for almost an hour now. Why weren't you answering? I was getting worried." She sounds as if she could, she'd strangle me through this phone.
Thank God for technology.
Sighing, I answer her, "I'm sorry Adri, I'm at the hospital, and I just dosed off. I didn't even realized when I fell asleep. I'm sorry for making you worry."
"Its fine. Since I know you're okay..." She sighs. "I'm bored."
"That's what you wanted to tell me?" I asked, shock evident in my voice.
"Yeap." She says.
"You're imposiible. Impossible I tell you."
"Whatever. Have you gotten any updates about Xav?" She changed the subject quickly.
"No, not yet. I haven't seen Nurse Jane since I arrived today and I guess I was sleeping when the other nurses came."
"Oh, okay. He'll wake up Gustie. He'll wake up soon." It felt as if she was also reassuring herself.
"Yeah, I guess so." I sigh. "You wouldn't believed what happened to me today." I said changing the subject.
"What happened?" She asked
I told her all that's been happened to me since I left my home this morning. From Liam running across the road yesterday, to the car that almost collided with mine, to when the guy had knocked me off my feet -literally might I add- with his graciousness, to when I came out of Walmart to find my tire flat, then, to Malik who helped me out by calling his brother.
"Damn. So chaotic." She said.
"No, I guess I was just having a normal day." She knew what I meant by that.
We spoke on the phone for a couple more minutes before I told her I was going to head home, and that I'll call her tomorrow.
I grabbed my stuff, kiss Xavie on the forehead, and then left the room.
While I was leaving the hospital, I checked my unread messages, which is a few. Nine out of the ten was from Adri since she's basically the only person I speak to. The other was an unknown number. I hated it whenever I receive texts from unknown numbers. It sent my nerves haywire but I always open them nonetheless.
Unknown: Hi
Me: Wrong number.
I quickly replied pushing the phone in my back pocket.
My phone pinged again but I ignored it. I made my way towards my car, stopping suddenly to quickly glance around my surroundings. I could have sworn I heard footsteps.
