I wake up the next morning to the scent of bacon, eggs and pancakes coming from the kitchen. I quickly remove the sheets from my body, and make my way to the kitchen. When I walk downstairs, what I see makes me halt in my steps, and rub my eyes twice before I can believe what I'm seeing.Dad is sitting around the table drinking his morning coffee, while mom is in the kitchen making breakfast, in her favourite apron.
Dad is the one who sees me first. He looks up, and smile at the shock look I have on my face.
"Good morning Gusto."
"Good morning..."
Am I in a dream?
I secretly pinch myself thinking I'd wake up from this dream, but I only end up wincing instead.
"Morning honey." Mom calls from the kitchen.
"Are you guys okay?" I voiced.
"Yes kiddo, we are just fine." Dad says.
"Yes hun, we are doing just fine." Mom adds
"And I'm not dreaming?" I had to ask.
They both laugh.
"No kiddo."
"No honey."
"Okay..." I trail off. I guess I'll just have to accept this while its happening. Who knows when my life would go haywire again.
Mom set a plate of chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream on top, bacon and scrambles eggs in front of me. I immediately dug in, I haven't eaten breakfast from mom in ages. She's the most amazing cool ever.
A moan of delight escaped my lips. "This is good. This is really good."
Mom and dad smile at me and my heart swell. I didn't realize how much I missed their smiles until now. I smile back at them then quickly finished up.
"I have to get ready for school, its getting late. Oh and I'm staying at Adri's for the weekend. Is that okay?" I ask.
"Sure thing kiddo. Just be careful." Dad said while Mom nods.
"I will." I leave them downstairs and head to my room to get ready.
After I am finishe, I grab my duffle bag and walk out of the room. I went downstairs and head towards the front door.
"Mom, Dad I'm leaving." I call out. They were probably in the kitchen.
"Okay, take care. Love you!" They both yell at me simultaneously. I smile at that as they always seem to say the same thing at the same time. I can bet they're in the kitchen laughing at themselves.
"Okay! Love you too." I close the front door behind me and walk to my car. I start the journey to Adri's home with a smile on my face.
I felt somewhat better, lighter even, that some aspects of my life is going back to the normal kind of normal. I think a little spark of my hope has been rekindled. Since mom and dad is coming around, then maybe, just maybe Xavie would come around too.
I really hope he does.
I pull into Adri's driveway in about ten minutes, blowing the horn to signal to her that I'm here. I hear her shout something to her parents, probably a goodbye or something, and the run down the steps of her porch towards the car. She sits in the passenger side and immediately buckled her seat belt.
She turns to me, "Good morning ba-" she stops. "You're smiling." She state almost shock.
"Way to go captain obvious!" I reach in for a high five but she sent me a playful glare that cause my hand to immediately fall.
