I am finally home!I sigh in content, falling face first on my bed.
Oh how I missed him!
I huff out a breath when I realize I want to change into more comfortable clothes, plus my room is due for some cleaning. I grab my phone and open the music icon. I need some motivation. I click on my recently played playlist and set my phone on the nightstand with Show Em What You're Made Of by Backstreet Boys playing at maximum volume.
I chang into a T-shirt and loose joggers and begin working in my room. My room isn't dirty, it just had some stray clothing all over the place and my bookshelf is beginning to look untidy with all my books stacked in random positions. I walk over to it and begin setting them horizontally.
"Gloves are off ready to fight. Like a lion I will survive. Will I? Will I? You gotta stand for something even if you stand alone. Don't be afraid its gon' be alright." I hum the lyrics. I absolutely love that verse of the song.
After I was through with the bookshelf, I move around picking up my stray clothing and throwing them in the hamper in my bathroom. I walk back into my room to hear my and Xavie's singing playing on my phone. It was the day when I had asked him to come to the music room with me and we sang True Colours by Phil Collins together. It's basically our song.
My fingers begin to tingle as the nostalgic feeling creep its way inside me. I really do miss playing the piano. We have a piano room, but I haven't used it since last year. Mom has the key and she told me that whenever I want it, I can just ask her for it. I don't know if I can play again though, I haven't touch the keys in so long.
Speaking of, the room probably needs some cleaning anyways. I can just take the key from Mom and just clean it.
I walk out of my room and down the stairs to her. She's probably in the kitchen doing something. The house felt a lot brighter now that we're kind of a family again.
"Mom?" I call out when I reach the living room.
"Yes honey."
"Where are you?" I didn't even know my home was this big until I'm trying to find my mother.
"In the backyard." She replies just as I open the back door leading to the backyard. Mom is sitting leisurely, drinking what looks like her homemade 'martina' that looks like lemonade, but we can't tell her that. I give her a quick hug even though I had seen her couple minutes ago.
She kisses my cheeks. "Do you need something honey?"
"Uhm, yeah... Can I have the keys to the piano room?" I ask, nervously playing with my fingers.
"The piano room?" She asks just as shocked as I am with myself. She then smiles making me feel relieved.
"Yeah. I was just cleaning my room when I heard a song Xavie and I recorded." I say quickly. "I am just going to clean it that's all. I'm not sure if I can play anymore."
"Oh honey I'm sure you can." She stands up and hug me. "Just think about all the fun times you and Xavie had. The key is in the top drawer of the bureau in my room."
"Thanks Mom."
"You're welcome honey."
I quickly move to her room to retrieve the key. I mentally prepared myself by taking a deep breath. I don't know why I feel like this, this room holds all of my good memories. Taking another deep breath, I open the door and walked into the room. For I minute I just pause to take it the room after I switched the lights on. Of course, everything is the same. The black leather couch at the far corner, the piano in the center of the room, and Xavie's guitar at the right with his laptop. Its basically our little studio that mom and dad had surprised us with.
