I flop down on the chair beside my brothers bed, impulsively grabbing his hand and holding on to it. I rest my head on the bed, close my eyes, and take deep breaths.

I'm tired.

"Hey Xavie." I mutter tiredly. "So I had another nightmare and panic attack this morning..." and just like that, I relay everything I can remember to him while trying my best not to cry. All I can feel is fear roaming inside me, taking over my every thought and mind space. I know there's a possibility that he'll wake up, I mean, the nurses said that his body wasn't rejecting the medicine so that was a good sign.

That's the only hope I have to cling onto. It's the only thing I can think of whenever I have nightmares like this.

My thoughts get cut off at the sudden ringing of my phone.

"We're one and the same. We're any but ordinary..."

I quickly glance at my phone to see that it's Adri. School isn't over yet so why would she be calling?

"Hello?"

"Hey. Are you with Xavie? Are you okay? Zane said you weren't in class."

"Yeah, I'm with Xavie. Don't worry about me."

"How is he? Anything new?" She asks, a tinge of hope in her voice.

"Nothing's changed. Don't be a truant. Go back to class. I'll talk to you later."

"Okay fine."

The boys all texted me but I ignore them. I'll just text them back in the group later. I decide to stretch my legs a little bit. Taking a walk around the hospital doesn't sound very appealing, so outside it is.

Life sure puts people in a very compromising position. It gives you the best people you could ask for, whether it be a mother, a father, a best friend, a boyfriend, anyone that brings happiness. And then with a snap of the fingers, that same happiness can be snatched away from you just like that. Then, you'll only realize all the things that you didn't do, and all the risks you didn't take. It's an honest struggle.

I hum under my breath as I make my way to the second floor. A lady's voice and accent stops me in my track.

"Where could that idiot be?" She mutters, looking very peeved. The woman looks about eight months pregnant, looking very young- about in her mid twenties. "I leave to go pee for five minutes, five minutes and I come back only to find my husband gone." She says louder this time, throwing her hands in the air.

I have to say, this is quite amusing to watch.

Is this how I would have been?

Shaking my head, not wanting to dwell on that thought, I walk over to her. "Hi, you seem a bit frustrated. Is everything okay? I ask, the amusement probably very evident on my face.

"I can't find my husband." She says with a sullen expression, her shoulders slumping.

"Did you try calling him?"

"Yes I did. The dumbass must have left his phone in the car or something." She rolls her eyes. "Gosh, he can be so stupid sometimes." She says mostly to herself.

I let out a light chuckle. "I guess you'll just have to wait on him then. I'll keep your company if you'd like." Since I had nothing else to do.

"That would be nice. I'm Roxanne by the way."

I take her outstretched hand, giving it a quick shake. "I'm August. Let's go find somewhere to sit so you're legs won't hurt." I lead her to the mini lounge they have. We both take seats in the corner of the room.
