Halle had dragged Ashley, Tiffany, and I out for a day of shopping so we could find our prom dresses. “I think this is the one” I smiled in the mirror. I had on sweetheart neckline strapless high low dress. The top was black with a thick jewelled belt, the bottom was ombre aqua blue. The girls all cheered and smiled as they found their dresses and we made our way home. I walked in the door and ran upstairs, hanging my dress in the wardrobe, hiding it from Ashton. I had also bought some plain silver sparkly pumps to match. I smiled as I heard the front door close and pranced down stairs. “Hey there” I smiled as I sat five steps from the bottom, “Hey” he smiled back, kneeling on the steps in front of me, “So have you got any plans in like 3 months’ time on Friday the 19th of April?” I grinned at him, “Nothing that I know of, why would that be?” he smirked at me, knowing what was coming. “Well I was wondering if you would come to this, like, Prom thing that’s happening” I shrugged, he just laughed and pecked my lips, “I would love to” he whispered, I grinned and hugged him.
*3 months later*
“It is 4 days till prom, are you excited?” Halle cheered, we all smiled, but inside I couldn’t wait till it was over. The stress of organising the prom had gotten to me and I just couldn’t wait for it to be over. “Alex, you in no way look excited” she looked at me, “Sorry, I’m just so stressed out over everything. It’s been hard planning this prom. I’m excited but at the same time I can’t wait for it to be over” I shrugged, she nodded understandably and then went back to bugging Josh about his tux and the others about the tux and the after party. I just sat there smiling along, barely paying attention. The day dragged on, conversations a blur to me, I was just too tired to care. “This is it, the final meeting. The decorations are done, ticket sales were awesome, the posters look fab, the gym will look fabulous when we decorate it on Thursday.” Casey cheered along with her cheerleaders, “I can’t wait” Hayley cheered, her preps all nodding in agreement. “Thank you all for your help” I smiled at them as we got up and went our separate ways. I was walking to my locker when I saw the kid that Sean was beating up, sitting on the floor. “Hey” I smiled as I slid down next to him, he just half smiled at me. “What’s up?” I smiled at him, “Not a lot” he shrugged, “Where’s your mum?” I asked, he let out a long sigh. “She’s at my brother’s soccer game. She was supposed to pick me up before, but she forgot. So now I have to wait here till it’s over” I looked at him and saw the sadness in his face. “My brother always comes first. They always forget about me” he sniffled, “Hey, things will get better” He looked at me and just shook his head, “They will, I promise. I mean he has to move out sometime and then you’ll be the only one left and you’re parents will realise how awesome you are. And if that doesn’t work out, then you can just move out and not have to worry about any of it anymore, but not until your 18” I smiled, he chuckled. “What time does the game finish?” I asked standing up. “Around 6ish” he shrugged, “That’s like an hour and half away” he shrugged again, “Nope, no, not happening. Come on let’s go, I’ll take you home. I’m not letting you sit here for that long” I said as I helped him up, he grabbed his stuff and we made our way to the car. We drove to his house in silence, he got out and thanked me before running inside. I half smiled as I drove off, when I arrived home I collapsed on the couch. It wasn’t long before Ashton came home, but something was bothering him, I could tell. “Hey babe, what’s up?” I smiled, he just shook his head and began pacing the room, “I can’t do this” he whispered, picking up his pace. “Do what?” I asked, slowly rising from the couch. “It just doesn’t make sense” frustration in his voice, “Ashton, what’s wrong?” I asked walking in front of him, causing him to stop pacing, he looked at me and his eyes were filled with pain. “Ashton” I smiled at him, he just shook his head. “Bad day?” I asked, he shook his head. “It was a great day, best day ever, but at the same time it was bad” he sighed, sitting on the couch. “How is that even possible?” I asked him confused, he groaned in frustration and started to pace again, “need a cuddle?” I asked him, “Cuddling doesn’t solve everything” he yelled, I looked at him shocked, he just shook his head and pulled me in for a hug, sitting me down on the couch. “I’m sorry I yelled, I just. I got some news today which is great for the guys and I, but uh, it involves me going away for a while” I looked at him confused. “We got a call today, saying we were going on tour, with one direction. For six months”
