The dance session was done and it was now the time for all the girls to apply mehendi. I still didn't have an idea of what it was, it was just something that people would use to make designs on the palms and hands, it would later dry and then when you remove it, you get a dark colour of that design.

I did not see Alyssa after our little conversation where I pulled up that little thing with her. I was too freaked out to go in front of her. But right now, I'm in her house. Between her family. And I did not try to kiss her just to stop talking to her. So I decided I'd just act normal in front of her. She would want that too, right?

I walked up to the place where she was sitting, I sat next to her, "hey," I smiled at her.

"Hi," she smiled back and then turned to her mom who was standing next to her seat, "mom! My body hurts! I want to sleep right now or I won't be able to attend the after party. I don't want to apply mehendi,"

"You won't have to do anything, just sit here and they will apply it. Then go and do whatever you want!"

"You don't get it?" Alyssa retorted, "my body hurts. I just wanna lay down,"

"They're all professionals. It won't take a long time, everyone is going to apply mehendi except you, paagal hai kya!" her mom replied.

"You don't understand!" Alyssa shot back, "go away. Just go!"

"That's not how you're gonna talk!" her mom almost yelled.

"I'll handle her," I interrupted their argument before it got any worse, "just send the person who has to apply the mehendi thing,"

Her mom shook her head and glared at Alyssa hinting that she shouldn't misbehave or be rude to me. There was something really wrong with Alyssa, and it wasn't just her bodyache. It was more than that, I could say.

"What do you mean by you'll handle me?" she rudely asked.

"What do you think I mean?" I stared at her.

"You think whatever I'm doing is wrong?" she snapped at me.

"I never said that," I looked at her strangely.

"Then what did you mean?" she retorted.

"You were arguing with your mom and I wanted it to stop so I just interrupted," I shrugged.

"Okay," she said as the girl who'd apply the mehendi came towards us.

"What design do you want?" she asked Alyssa.

"Anything, I don't really care," she snapped at her too.

"What's wrong?" I asked her.

"My body hurts," she mumbled.

"Its not that. I mean, sure it aches. But there is something wrong with you," I shook my head.

"Its nothing, I just need sleep," she muttered.

"You know you can talk to me if there's something wrong..." I trailed off.

"Yeah, yeah," she mumbled.

I did not really bother asking anything later, because it would just get her mad and I did not want to ruin the moment.

After getting done with mehendi on both of her hands, she got up and I did the same. She walked to her mom and snapped at her, "I'm done with this,"

"Now go and rest," her mom stated the obvious.

"What about my medicines?" She asked.

"Have them once your mehendi is dried," her mom shrugged.
