Chapter 17

Vanessa's P.O.V

  Taylor was standing there, wih a smirk as usual. "you should see the look on your face!" he manage to say between his hysterical laughing. Taylor seemed to laugh a lot, always making jokes. If he wasn't trying to kill me we would probably be friends. I tried not to laugh with him, which would be weird because he was laughing at me. Taylor had the kind of laugh that made you want to laugh too. His face seemed to light up when he smiled, his perfect teeth showind and his warm, brown eyes lighting up.... Vanessa, snap out of it, he wants to kill you. Stop think about how cute he is, stupid hormones. 

  "So, what are you doing here?" I asked, "No offense but you are not one of my best friends" He stopped laughing, showing any human side in him and went back to the usual scowl on his face.

 "Like I said earlier, I have been assigned to keep a close eye on you, which includes out of school" Taylor replied, jumping onto my bed, crossing his legs and put his arms underneath his head, completely laying down. A lazy smile came onto his face.

 "So I have no privacy?" I questioned,  pushing his feet off my bed. His smile disappeared turning into a  snarl. 

 "Listen here fish, you are not human. You are a monster and the hunters and I, we hunt things that aren't human. We cant risk you getting away because believe it or not, mermaids aren't the easiest to find" Taylor was now standing up with his arms spread open, trying to prove his point.

 "So you hunt things that are not human? Well news flash for you I was human and am half human now, and if you and your little pathetic band of hunters kill every innocent thing that is not just like you, well you have less humanity than me" I spat, taking a step towards him.

 "Less humanity? You have no idea what humanity is" Taylor also took a step forward so our bodies were nearly touching. 

 "I have a better idea than you, you have killed people. I didn't ask for this, being a mermaid, but you had a choice, and you chose killer" I said to him. He didn't look angry, which really surprised me, he looked almost... sad.

 "You don't know anything about me" With that Taylor rushed past me and hopped out of my window. My bedroom is on the second story so I figured Taylor would be splattered on the concrete below but when I checked he was gone.

Taylor's P.O.V

She knew nothing about me, nothing. 'Don't let her get to you' I thought calming myself down. I was a few blocks away from Vanessa's house. She was trying to get to me, trying to mess with my head. Even though I was trying to convince myself that I couldn't deny the truth in her eyes as she told me ho I had less humanity than her, which might be true. I have done things that I am not proud of, but it's too late to turn back.

  Vanessa was ... different from the other creatures I have hunted before. Most of them wanting power or revenge with their abilities. She only wanted to be left alone. If I wasn't hunting her, I might have actually liked her. I couldn't though, she was going to die soon. I felt bad for her, not having a choice if she was a monster or not. Maybe I could convince the hunters to overlook her... Wait, What? Vanessa's already messing with my head. I can't trust her, can't fall for her act.

 My phone started to vibrate. I pulled it out of my pocket and looked at the caller I.D. It was my boss, Kaely. I sighed, she is definitely not the person I want to talk to right now. I didn't have much of a choice though, seeing if I let the call go to voice mail she would strangle you before you got to say sorry. It seemed like my life had no choices, no decisions, just the same thing over and over. I clicked the talk button and put the phone to my ear.

  "Took you long enough" I heard Kaely say in annoyance. I could picture her now, feet up on her desk, lounging back in her chair. Her father was the leader of the hunters, before a vengeful witch wanted revenge. Kaely was the last of her family, the leader position was passed down in family's. Needless to say that Kaely was not very friendly towards creatures, especially witches. She now has us going all across the continental U.S.

   "Sorry, what did you need?" I asked trying to keep my tone respectful, which wasn't very easy. Her having the ability to feed me alive to a pack of hungry lions convinced me to keep my mouth shut though.

   "Just wanted to see how it went with the little mermaid" Kaely replied, "I bet she got in your head, you are not the sharpest crayon in the box" 

  "It went fine" I snapped back a little too quickly. Busted.

  "Oh, she did get to you, how interesting. Does little Taylor want a hug?" She asked in a mocking voice. 

   "I got to go Kaely, see you soon" I said trying to get off the phone with her. It was like she had a sixth sense when she was pissing people off, lets just say that she really enjoys making people want to blow there head off.

  "Aw, I don't know about you but I love the conversations we have. But if you must go, you must go. Text me later!" She said with sarcasm dripping in her voice.

  I hung up with her and looked off into the distance. It was night, and the city was light up. It was almost like looking into the sun. I didn't like the city, never have and never will. Once this is over I will get stationed in a remote area, when this is over Vanessa will be dead. I thought of her gorgeous smile in my head making me put a smile on my face too. I pushed her out of my head as I started walking down the street. 

Vanessa's P.O.V

  My headphones was blasting my favorite rock music, letting my anger escape. I wasn't listing to music though, I was thinking. Unfortunately about the person I was trying to block out, Taylor. He was the monster, not me. I keep telling myself that, but it doesn't stop me from hoping there was a human being deep down. I tried to push him out of my head again, but it was like someone had super glued him to my thoughts. My eyes were closed trying to focus on Breaking Benjamin. I felt something  pocking at my leg, figuring that it was a fly I shook it. My foot hit a solid object, It was either a person or the biggest fly in history. I slowly opened my eyes, afraid of both of the possibilities. 

  I saw Tris, a long with another girl that I didn't recognize. I didn't think about it that much considering I have two strangers in my room watching me. I ripped my earphones out and jumped up, looking for a weapon. Tris seemed nice, but after the freaky incident and her showing up in my room after meeting her once for about a minute or so. there was a coat hanger sitting aimlessly on the ground that I quickly picked up and held it at a threating stance. They both seemed like they were holding back a few laughs. Does nobody know how to knock anymore?

  "What the hell are you doing here?" I asked them, coat hanger still in my hands. Tris took a step towards me with her hands up. 

  "We just want to talk" She replied in a calm voice, trying not to freak me out. Too late.

    "Ever heard of I don't know calling or maybe knocking?" I asked.

    "We need to see something" The unknown girl spoke, looking in her shoulder bag and grabbing something out. She was really pretty, medium length, light, blond hair and bronze skin.

   "Well as fun as that sounds you need to-" She splashed me with some water from a bottle. "Mother-" I started to say, but then the girl splashed water on Tris too. I stopped and stared, too soon I fell to the hard, wooden floor. Have to get a carpet.

    My legs were replaced by my blue fin. "Nice fin" I heard Tris comment. I looked to her that she was also on the floor with a tail like me. Too weird.

AUTHORS NOTE!!!!!! so I know I haven't updated in a while but you love me anyways. I got some new fans so I am very happy. So, I am going to make a LOVE TRIANGLE!!! tell me if you like it or not, and if you like it what side you are on.  Give Taylor a chance, I will reveal more about him soon. Who misses Gale's P.O.V's? if you do tell me and I will make one! Tris is a mermaid too! Her friend is also a supernatural creature but I will fill you guys in next chapter.
