His pale blue eyes scanned me in a curious manner. As my teeth began to chatter from the freezing cold creeping upon my skin, not a hint of sorrow was revealed through his irises.
"Please," I repeated through the chatters. "Let me go. I'm just so so cold."
He nonchalantly shrugged his shoulders as a smug smirk danced on his face. "I most likely will if you don't test me. Now...." he said, slowly pacing back and forth before me. "Laney Riverdale, do you know of Peter Pan?"
"Yes," I bluntly answered. As the cold began to numb my feet and arms, I became desperate to give him any information he needed as long as I could get out of here safely.
"And would you say you liked him?"
"Yes."
"Would you say you liked him enough to call him your boyfriend?"
"For one," I began. "I literally just told you that I was looking for my boyfriend and since you seem to be smart enough to know my name and know what I looked like to trap me in here, I would hope you were smart enough to figure out that we're dating."
He crossed his arms over his chest as his snow white hair flopped over his eyes. His light eyebrows pulled together in the middle of his forehead. "Was the sass necessary?"
Pulling my eyebrows together, I glared at him. "When you push me to a certain point, it just flows naturally."
He seemed amused by my answer, his eyes lighting up in a mischievous manner. Taking steps closer to me, he smirked as my stomach twisted and turned within me. "Let. Me. GO! Do you not realize that he's in dire danger right now? What in the freaking world is wrong with you?" As my skin felt like an exterior shell made of ice, my insides flared up in anger. All this time that was being wasted in this freezer, I could've been searching for Peter. He wasn't capable of handling emotions like these on his own.
Suddenly his expression morphed into one that scared me. It was impossible to tell whether he was concerned or just plain out angry. "What do you mean he's in danger?"
Shaking from the dropping temperature, I explained to him. "I was looking for him before you took me in here! The boy he was assigned to just passed away and he ran off!"
His jawline tensed as his eyes widened. "Oh no no no no. We need to go. Now." With a lift of his hand, a cold gust of wind swooshed open the door to the room we were locked in. Pointing a single pale finger at me, his expression turned serious once more. "Don't think we're done with this conversation."
Snapping his finger, the ice encased around my feet crumbled into little shards that proceeded to melt on the floor. As soon as my skin made contact with the outside atmosphere, my body began to shiver as it began to warm back up to room temperature.
It was amusing to see that Iceman was already dashing into the kitchen, running any which way he possibly could to get out of there.
"Hey," I uttered. "The exit is over here. Follow me," I demanded, motioning toward him with my hand. He kept his distance, but did somehow trust me enough to let me take the lead.
Pushing open a door, we headed into the middle of a hallway.
"Great, just great," he whined, throwing his hands in the air. "He could be anywhere by now! Good going Laney, just one more thing you had to mess up!" As those words were spit out his mouth, my rage grew with every additional millisecond that I had to endure within his presence. How dare he have the audacity to come here and act like he knows who I am? He doesn't know anything about me!
"You know what? If you're not going to be of any help to me, get out of my face. I've had to deal with too much to be bossed around by some dude who can shoot ice out of his hands. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to continue to do the humane thing and look for Peter."
Realizing that he hit a note with me, he sassily crossed his arms over his chest and raised a single eyebrow at me. "Really?"
"Boy, you don't know me or what I'm capable of. I may be a mortal, but at least I have a heart" I stated, turning on my heels and rushing down another hallway. Oblivious to whether he followed me or not, I was started by his masculine voice. "Wait, I think I may know where he went."
After jumping at his sudden appearance, he fiddled with a string that he tore off of his pant pocket.
"What are you talking about?" I asked, looking for any sort of emotion within his expression.
He sighed, "I've known Peter for quite some time and whenever he gets upset, there's always one thing he goes and does," he stated, avoiding eye contact with me. Maybe he noticed that he pissed me off.
"And where exactly is that?"
Smirking, he nodded his head up at me. "You'll see."
