Cheryl & Liam - I've Tried Everything

Chapter 7

Before the Fernandez Versini family knew it was Saturday, the day that their family and friends were invited round for a BBQ to celebrate Ruby's birthday. Everything had been prepared with the help of Lily and Kimberley who helped prepare the food whilst JB and Justin had helped the bouncy castle company set up the bouncy castle whilst Ruby and Bobby watched in fascination.

Guests had been slowly filtering into the backyard where the sun was shining and it was just about shorts and t-shirt weather, a lot of the women wearing dresses and sunglasses. The men were all hanging around the BBQ whilst JB and Justin started to cook the food with cans of beer in their hands, whilst the women sat around on the outdoor sofas drinking Pimms and lemonade except Cheryl and Rochelle as both were expecting mothers. A lot of Ruby's friends from playschool had turned up with their parents, all a bit starstruck as they never expected to be invited round the Nation's Sweethearts house for a BBQ. Even so they all got on great and the garden was filled with chatter and laughter.

Ruby was thoroughly enjoying herself as she played on the bouncy castle with her friends, her and Alaia-Mai holding hands as they jumped and giggled the two becoming closer and closer each time they saw each other, it warming Cheryl and Rochelle's heart to see them get along so well, both hoping that their new additions would get along just the same.

Just as the last guests arrived JB called to everyone that the food was ready and so Cheryl started to take off the clingfilm that was currently on the other dishes such as the salad and potato salad before the kids all lined up for their food making the adults laugh at how hungry they were from jumping around on the bouncy castle together.

After the food was demolished Cheryl announced that it was time for some party games so with the help of some of the adults they brought some chairs from inside to play musical chairs, it being a classic children's party game.

"Right are you all ready?" Cheryl asked the group of kids who were all sitting on their own chairs, she got a chorus of 'yeahs' back so she pressed play on her phone where the music played out the outdoor speakers. The kids all started screaming and giggling whilst Nicola took away a chair on the end before the music was stopped and one of the kids from Ruby's playschool didn't make it on a chair.

"Aw Ben, we'll get them next time yeah?" Nicola said to him as he made his way to his parents who were sitting with the rest of the adults laughing away at the game, he nodded at Nicola and sat on his mum's lap to watch the rest of the game.

The game had gone on for another 15 minutes until it was Alaia-Mai and Harvey from playschool left whilst the rest of the kids cheered them on. The music was played again and a chair was taken away leaving only one left for the winner, when the music stopped the two scrabbled to get to the last chair where Harvey just beat Alaia-Mai earning a huge cheer from everyone watching and a mini trophy and sweets as a prize.

After playing musical statues and a few other games, the party was in full swing with everyone enjoying themselves and the men getting a little bit tipsy as they drunk beer after beer. Cheryl was just getting herself a glass of tap water from the kitchen when JB stumbled up next to her and wrapped his arms around her.

"Hi baby, you look hot" JB slurred into her ear.

"Babe, stop" Cheryl sighed as he started to kiss her cheek.

"You look so sexy in this summer dress though" He smirked as he pulled her in for a cuddle, Cheryl relaxing into his strong arms.

"Not here babe" Cheryl told him, smelling the beer on his breath it taking her back to all the times they'd argued about him drinking hoping that tonight wouldn't escalate to how previous nights had gone.
