"If you'd like to follow me, I'll take you into a room to take your statement" A young police officer told Cheryl as she gripped onto Liam's hand, the couple following the woman into a small room coffee room. Cheryl and Liam sat down on the sofa across from the woman who clicked her pen and started to write on a piece of paper before looking towards Cheryl with a warm smile, "So all you have to do is tell me everything that happened and I'll write it down, then afterwards we'll take you to take some photos for evidence, does that sound okay?"
"Err, yeah, okay" Cheryl gulped, nodding her head slightly, Liam squeezing her hand comfortingly so she knew where he was when she needed him.
"If you need to take a break at any point, just say and we'll continue when you're ready to, take your time"
It took a while for Cheryl to first start talking, she started from the very beginning of their marriage, recalling how happy they were and how happy everything was when Ruby was born. She proceeded to recall how things suddenly changed when his father passed away, and how their relationship was never the same, even his relationship with his own daughter. Her voice got caught in her throat as she started to describe the incident that happened between her and JB.
"He- he just wouldn't stop hitting me" Cheryl told her as sobs wracked her whole body as she couldn't continue anymore.
"Do you want to take a break?" The woman sweetly asked, handing Liam a box of tissues to help her.
"I think that will be for the best, thank you" Liam replied, pulling Cheryl in for a warm cuddle to try and calm her down.
"I can't do it Liam" Cheryl sniffed, wiping her tears with the back of her sleeve.
"Yes you can babe. I know you can, let's just take a breather for 10 minutes, yeah?"
"Okay, can you pass me my phone please? I'm gonna check on the girls" He simply smiled and nodded in reply, reaching for her phone to pass to her.
"I wonder what Kimberley and Nicola are getting up to with them" Liam commented, happy that the girls were in such good hands whilst he and Cheryl were away.
"I bet they're getting up to all kinds of trouble" Cheryl giggled, "Oh look at what Nic's sent me" Cheryl grinned before showing Liam her phone, two pictures of Ruby and Amelia came through of them playing in the forest near Kimberley's house.

"Oh my goodness, I've never seen two cuter children" Liam replied, his heart fluttering at just the sight of the two girls, his love for them being so strong, even though they weren't his.
"I got so lucky didn't I?"
"So so lucky" Liam stroked Cheryl's back as she quickly replied to Nicola before turning to face Liam in her seat.
"I think I'm ready to carry on now, I'm doing it for those two, for their future" Cheryl nodded to herself, gearing herself up to continue talking to the police officer so she could get it out of the way and continue on the right path away from JB.
