My eyes never left her when she slept. It was strange, but when I was watching her... it was probably the most enjoyable thing in a while. Maybe it's because it's another Lorien. Not sure. Suddenly her eyes flutter open, and she looks around startled, then quickly sat up. "Bi- shit." She groaned, holding her throat with her hand.
"You should really bandage that. It could get infected." Her eyes seemed to sharpen, and I could practically feel her glare burning into me. She's quite terrifying for any Lorien I've heard of, aside from Setrakús.
"You must not have many friends. Even with all the big city crap you probably got to pull."
"Not surprised you knew that? I live in Chicago. Not many people there actually liked me, maybe a few girls but," I shrugged, not really caring to remember them. It did strike something when I saw her cheeks grow scarlet. "Are you blushing?"
"I didn't say anything about your girlfriends! I said friends!" She stood up, but immediately collapsed to her knees, still clutching her neck. I rolled my eyes, and folded my hands.
"Would you like me to bandage that for you?" She looked at me through squinted eyes, almost as if she was trying to figure me out... impossible. After a long ten seconds she nods, and I walk over to her.
I kneel next to her, and place my hand on the hem of her shirt. "Can I use this."
"Just do it already." She groaned. I ripped part of her shirt off and began to wrap it around her wound, she winced with every movement. I guess this shows that no matter how bad ass you can get you can still feel pain. She grabs my shoulder when I try to stand, and she pulls herself up with me. She probably didn't realize it either, but she smeared a lot of blood on my shoulder, but I tried to ignore that.
"At least that should stop most of the bleeding."
"You're a pain in the ass... but thank you."
"Don't sweat it. We're probably going to die soon anyways."
"You mean I am?"
"I... well... that's not what I meant."
"Sure." She placed her hands on the wall for support. "So, Mr. All Star. You know my legacies, cough up yours."
"So demanding. I don't think I should share." Her eyes close tightly, like she's trying to remember something and suddenly the cell turns into something different. Something I only remember vaguely.
Lorien.
Lorien in its downfall. When the mogadorians attacked us. There was fire raging everywhere, bodies piled stories high. The sight made me sick, but the one thing that made me remember that this is over, was Ten. She stood on a ramp only a few feet away, right next to a ship.
"We escaped, Nine. There's a perfectly good explanation as to why. Look around you. What do you see?"
"Our people. Dead. Fire. What makes it alright to show me this?"
"You need a reminder. Why we are fighting. I questioned it myself, then this showed up around me, every day for over two years. It's time to share the reminder." Lorien suddenly disappears around us, and we're back in the cell. "So, show me your powers. We're working together in this fight."
I sigh before walking towards the wall, only to keep walking up the side. I glance over at Ten, and her eyes are wide. That reaction only made me grin as I began to speed around the cell over the walls before skidding to a stop. "Is that all?" She asks, pretending not to be impressed.
"Well we obviously have telekinesis, but in addition I have heightened strength, hearing, and can speak to animals."
"So, that's it?"
"Well... there's also this." I tap her forehead, and she swats my hand away angrily.
"What the hell! Don't touch me!"
"Try and walk on the wall."
"Are you insane!?" She looks ready to give a full fledged argument, but to be honest I'm not in the mood. So naturally I picked her up, and set her on the wall next to me, and instead of falling she just stands there. Her anger seems to melt away, and she rolls her eyes. "Of course, I could definitely sense this power from you."
"You could... sense it?"
"Well. Another one of my legacies. I can sense others with legacies."
"Are there any others nearby?" I ask, probably more quickly than needed. "Or is your range limited?"
"Limited to about five hundred kilometers. Let me see." She closes her eyes and the area around us changes with her search. "Hmmmm. None that I can see at the moment... but... someone is approaching from the sky, slowly. I can't see who it is, but... they're powerful... I think it's... a dis-activating legacy. They can stop our legacies from working?"
"That's not good."
"No. It's not... but... well I don't know if this is good or bad, but someone just entered my radar."
"Let's hope it's good. Can you find them?"
"Maybe," she squints harder, focusing. "Nearly there."
"Hey!" A voice yells from down the hall.
"Shit!" She gasps, losing her focus. Two mogadorians charge over to our cell, and glare at the both of us.
"Need to get the boss down here before she heals." One of them mutters. A sudden surge comes over me, I'm tired of watching people die. They're going to kill her at some point, we both know it. I reach through the the bars, ignoring the electricity. and grab them both before slamming their faces against the bars.
"Nine!" Ten snaps. "Don't!"
"These bastards deserve it!" I growl, letting them go. My arms sting from the electricity, but not as much as they should. My eyes move over to Ten, sweat beads her face.
"Electricity is harder to control." She pants and I rub my arms, stimulating.
"Thanks, I guess."
"You're going to owe me a lot more in a minute." She frowns. After she said that the electricity went down, and one of the guards walked in, and grabbed her by the bicep and dragged her out of the cell. While this happened I stood frozen in confusion. This girl was impossible to read.
