My eyes slowly drifted open, and I was staring at a white ceiling. One I'd never seen before. It was strangely beautiful and looked like the ceiling of an ordinary house.
Maybe it was all just a dream? I'm back home and I'll go downstairs where my grandparents will be waiting for me.
"Ten?" The voice was small, but familiar. I moved my head to the sound of the voice, and saw Nine hovering to my left.
"Nine?" I sat up quickly, ignoring the screaming pain running through me. He pulled me into a hug and I gasped, his grip was tight and made it hard to breath, but I didn't care in the slightest. "I can't believe it's you..."
"I knew I'd find you."
"How long has it been?"
"A couple months? I couldn't keep track. It felt like you were gone forever."
"I'm never leaving again."
"Never?"
"Never." I pulled away and smiled at him, pressing my hand to his cheek. "It's weird. I've only known you for a short amount of time, but I feel like you're the world."
"Is it weird that I feel the same way?" His cheeks flushed and he looked away.
"No." I felt his breath against my face.
"What'd you do to your hair?"
"Cut it? Does it look okay?"
"Makes you look badass." He grinned, but looked to the side, his lips pressed into a line.
"Nine, what's the-" I stopped talking and felt my entire body lose feeling and I went limp in his arms.
"Ten, what the hell? You're still having side effects?" He groaned and picked me up bridal style as I began to twitch. My entire body was under a weird feeling. It made my ears buzz and I felt like I was going to be sick. "Marina!"
"Nine? What do you want now?" A girl groans. I was hit with the sudden force of her legacy, it wasn't as strong, but then it was joined with the legacies of seven others and I began to pant, I was getting ready to scream. A hand clasped over my mouth just as I exploded. Instead of shattering everything around me the earth began to shake under me.
I stopped screaming, and Nine set me on the floor of the hallway and the girl leaned over me. "What's wrong with her?"
"I don't know, you're the healer!" Nine snapped. She placed her hand on my forehead, and I was hit with a warm sensation like I was being cleansed.
"She was poisoned." The girl stated before taking her hand of my head, but the sick feeling immediately came back and I groaned.
"Why didn't it work?" Nine asked.
"What the hell is happening?" That voice was familiar too. Five?
"Shut up, Fattie!" Nine snapped. "Marina, figure it out."
"I'm trying!" She held her hand over me and slowly followed down my legs and my arms, and her hand stopped over my wrist where I had tied Bion's collar. She took the collar of my arm, and I felt a small piece of me fade away. She threw it out a window and placed her hand on my wrist and the feeling came back.
I let out a sign of relief, and Nine squeezed my hand. "Thanks, M."
"I'm the healer, it's my job." She replied before walking off.
"Do you want to stand?"
"Yes." I nodded. My voice felt stronger and Nine helped me to my feet. I stumbled at first, but I managed to walk fine. We walked into a kitchen where John was talking to Sarah and we continued to walk. "You know you still have to introduce me to some people, right?"
"Tch, forget about them," he laughed. A smile creeped across my face. It was a new side of Nine. He seemed more calm and carefree than normal.
"Is this where you lived?" I asked, suddenly realizing the beautiful surroundings.
"Live. You can stay here too. As long as you want to." His cheeks flushed.
"I planned on it." I smiled. He took my hands into his. He brought me into a room which I assumed was a training room, but it had been cleaned up and I suddenly took notice of Nine's "formal" clothes. Basically a white t-shirt and clean jeans. "What are we doing in here?"
"Just close your eyes." He instructed. I replied by closing my eyes and I could tell the room had gotten darker and quite jazz music started to play. "Open your eyes."
I shivered from his warm breath rolling down my skin. My eyes opened and the lights were dimmed and the room almost looked romantic. Nine dipped down into a bow. "May I have this dance?"
"Nine? What are you doing?" I laughed a little.
"Just dance with me." He grumbled. My cheeks flushed and I turned away.
"I don't know how." He sighed, and turned me around and guided my arms around his neck and he placed his hands on my waist. We began to sway and take small steps.
"It's easy." He grinned and soon we were walking up the wall to the ceiling. I laughed as our hair fell, and we swung around, it was quite fun to do something... semi normal for once.
"Does this mean anything to you?" I asked and we both stopped, the music too.
"What do you mean?"
"Do you have feelings for me? Or are you just doing this because I'm the only girl here not taken or willing to kill you on sight." He snorted at the last part.
"I don't do this with normal girls. I wore my nice jeans for you, you should feel special." He teased.
"Well, can we go back down? I'm getting light headed."
Once we made it back to the floor we fixed the lighting and I stretched. "Do you want to do any training?"
"Like what?"
"Training, duh." He rolled his eyes like it was obvious.
"Do I get to face off with you?"
"Sure."
"You're on!" I laughed.
