On with the story...

~ Recess ~

"So I was thinking of having twenty-four counts of freestyle in the chorus just to see the dancers' true style and their capabilities..." Richelle trailed off, as she quickly sat down, placing her food on the table.

It was only a small break time, so Richelle and Izzy had a fruit and water each. The weather was lovely, so they decided to take advantage of it and sit outside. Richelle, being the perfectionist she was, decided to go over her audition plans for the dancers for the international team. Although it was already amazing, the brunette always made sure she had the plan down to the T.

It meant a lot to the school that they had reached this far in the competition, so they had allowed Richelle and all the contenders to take the next classes off to audition.

Although they previously had a team, Richelle decided to scrap it and create a whole new one comprised of all the best dancers.

"Yeah, that sounds good. It's important that they can do the group number and work together, as well as having an individual style. If they don't bring something to the team, then what's the point?" Izzy asked rhetorically, taking a bite out of her apple.

"True," Richelle smiled, and the table fell silent.

This was a lot of pressure, not only for Richelle, but for Izzy as well, her trusty assistant captain. They had worked incredibly hard to get to this stage of competition, and they did it together.

Izzy didn't dance, but she was the brains behind all of it. Without Izzy, Richelle would be clueless. Izzy ran the operation and acted as a studio head, doing stuff like organising costumes and entering competitions, whilst Richelle did the dancing part. The school took her as seriously as they did Richelle, because without Izzy, they just had incredible dancers, but no competition or inside knowledge.

Now they just had to win internationals.

No pressure, right?

Richelle, in the past few weeks, had created a routine for the dancers which they would have to learn in 20 minutes. It was cutthroat, but to win internationals, that was the way it had to be.

The bell sounded around the courtyard, and faint groans were heard from passing students, as they realised they had to get to class.

"Well, we have to go make a team that's going to win internationals," Richelle said with a shaky smile.

"What are we waiting for?" Izzy smiled, linking her arm with Richelle.

They walked off to the gym, but unbeknownst to the pair, a surprise was about to come, and it would change everything.

Richelle watched as everyone stretched and chatted.

Now was time for business. She quickly cleared her throat, getting everyone's attention. Although she was small, Richelle's tone and aura commanded attention – she was a natural leader.

Perfect for dance captain.

"Ok, everybody, listen up! I am going to teach you this dance, and then we will go through it with the music. After that you have 20 minutes to practise. Then we will come back and you will perform. The best dancers will be selected to represent our school and country at internationals. If you are here to mess around, now is the time to leave," Richelle said sternly, hoping into captain mode.

She could see the slight fear in some of the dancer's eyes, but the blonde-haired girl moved on.

Fear was a great motivator – she knew it best.
