Locklan's POV
Okay. I got this. The air was cool and the ground was sloshing under my feet. The bus pulled up to my dirt road. I got a knot in my stomach immediately. Damn, I muttered to myself as I climbed the steps. I was greeted with loud talking and shouts, people laughing, someone singing, people arguing, and people staring me down. I took a deep breath. Why are they so fucking loud? I plopped down in a seat somewhere in the middle. The bus sputtered and whined then took off to hell.
I trudged through the school building. I was heading to my locker when I felt a hard smack on my back. I wince from the shock. I looked to my left and then up slightly. Stupid fucking tall people. I'm constantly looking up to someone . I'm not even that short. I recognize who it is, Andy. I immediately try and make myself smaller. Maybe I can shrink enough to finally disappear forever. He squeezes my shoulder hard, I cringe from the contact and try to shake him off. "Why the fuck are you here dipshit?" he says. I glare at him harshly and cross my arms. "Fucking, let go." I try to shrug him off again. I don't know why I do this, it doesn't make anything better. "You have the nerve to cuss at me. You piece of shit." He shoves me hard. "Better be fucking glad I'm in a good mood, just get gone will ya?" Good mood my ass, and I didn't even want to be around you, prick. I head over to my locker. "Locklan! Are you going to sit with us at lunch again today?" a bubbly voice calls to me. I turn slowly. Catherine. She's constantly excitable, she's got a baby face and is always in pastel colors. Her voice is quite sweet but she has her moments. "Get out of my way asshat!" I hear her yell in an all too hateful voice. She bounded towards me with another girl, Ash behind her. "I-I uhhh yeah, sure." I say quietly. She squeals and hops up and down. She wirls around to Ash "He said yes, Ash!" she hugs her. "come on we have to go now." She grabs Ash's shirt and tugs her along. I blink. Was I just invited to sit with people? Yesterday was kinda an accident. They removed my small table this year so I had to find a new one. But the people who usually sat at the table came, they didn't make me move or anything, so I just kept to myself. They're upper classmen too, why would they want me at there table. I grab my things and run off to class.
The day went by slowly, with minimal bullying. I guess since it's only the first few weeks back to school they are just warming back up to the place, waiting. Sitting with Catherine and Ash's table was pretty cool, some of them are rather touchy and I don't like that too much. And they didn't talk to me a whole bunch, which I didn't mind at all. My last class rolled around, biology. I sat in the back on the row closest to the door. We haven't done much so everyone's talking amongst themselves. "No way dude, I'm not that kinda guy!" someone in the group of boys beside me laughed. "What you don't think you can? Chicken." Another boy I actually know said, Derek. The same boy chuckled with a rich deep voice. "I'm sure I could if I wanted to." I moved enough to be able to see the speaker. He's a boy I don't really know, I think he's new this year. His dark brown hair was messy and his green eyes were so vibrant. He was a very handsome boy, I must admit, but I'm not gay or anything. That would be just icing on the fucking cake. Everyone would have a fit if they found that out. So I constantly remind myself that I'm not gay. He looks up at me quickly, and I freeze, I feel my eyes go wide. He smiles a little more and I force my eyes down. "So you're gay then?" My heartbeat quickens. Why? Idiot, don't get excited. I'm not gay and even if I was, he'd never go for me. "Nah, dude. I just don't want to mess with someone's emotions." he replies. Like I thought, he can't be gay. "I bet you can't, all you have to do is get her to date you, she's super hard to get." My curiosity peaked. "I bet you I can. What's her name?" he asked. I look over at him, he's got a look of determination. He's obviously very stubborn. "Delilah Montgomery." Derek replied. At that I laughed. Only for a second and quietly. I don't laugh often, or genuinely. Derek turns around, and laughs humorlessly at me. "What shorty? You think you can do better?" he stares at me and I look down quickly. "You can't even look me in the eyes." I stop. Fuck head. I glare up at him. "I can look you in the eyes if I fucking want to." I don't make eye contact after that though. "I've just been going to school with her for a while." I state quietly. "What? You've got a crush on her or something?" he asks. I give him an unamused look. "No." "So you're gay?" he says quickly. My heart dropped. "Damn! There are a lot of people that want that confession." he adds, I know exactly who he's talking about. I start to panic. "No! I'm not fucking gay! Damn. Can you fucking not spread that around. I have enough bull shit to deal with!" I yell at him. "Dude, don't mess like that, obviously there's something more going on." the other boy told Derek. Another boy cracked a smile. I look at him harshly, but realize who it is and quickly look away, Morgan. "So what were you getting at about knowing her so long?" Derek speaks up again. "Just that to get her you might want to fully understand her and what she likes, hates , and her background." I reply. "So how about this, both of you try different ways to get her. Everett use your charm and stuff and you use your knowledge and stuff. How bout it?" I think it over, whatever, it might be interesting. "I bet you can't." Derek says again. "I will!" me and the other boy, Everett, say at the same time. I look at him and he stares back at me. He smirks and holds out a hand. "You're on." he says confidently. I slowly bring my hand up to his. He shakes it. And I cringe from the contact, but also feel very weird. I pull my hand away. He keeps his smirk plastered on his face. I study him a moment. He's a rather strange guy. I can't tell what he's thinking. Weirdo.
