Kay's POV

I gave him the glasses. I don't know what I was thinking, I just needed an excuse to see him. Those glasses had only been worn once, but I don't remember who wore them. The glasses were enchanted, like mine, but I don't know how I got them. Another piece of my past that is lost. I was still excited for capture the flag. I had never played it before, but I've heard it is a blast! I had overheard the Ares team's plan when I was testing out my glasses, so I knew exactly where to go. I wanted Caleb to come along, because if something went wrong, someone else could still go through with the plan. I didn't tell him the plan yet, but he still trusted me enough to go along with it. We were almost to the flag, when I heard the fifth patrol coming our way. "Follow me. I know where the flag is," I whisper over at Caleb. "How?" he inquired. "Clarrise talks really loud," I respond. I lead him to the left, away from the patrols. I stop at the edge of the creek and turn to face him. "Here's the hard part. We have to be absolutely silent. They are spread out in a line, so the only way is through the water," I tell him. He responds with, "How are we supposed to be silent in water?" "Think this through, Caleb. Who is my father?" He doesn't respond, but I can tell he figured it out. We step into the water and grab hands. Even though the glasses make us invisible, we can see each other. We walk on top of the water, as though it's frozen over. I can see the line clearly from where we stand and I was right, no one is blocking the water. We walk quickly and quietly past them and keep going until I lead us to shore. We break apart and keep going, starting to pick up the pace. I see the flag up ahead, with no guards. "It can't be that easy," Caleb whispers. "They don't expect anyone to make it through the defense," I respond. He lets me get the flag and we run back to the line, not really trying to be quiet. We get to the water right behind the line and I wade in. Caleb waits on the shore. The water feels amazing as I head to the place in between the lines. I am careful to keep the flag above the water, holding it high in my left hand. As I triple tap my glasses, I bring the flag down, into the water. The whole team looks my way, ready to shoot. Their weapons lower as they realize that they lost. The horn sounds, signaling my win as Chiron rides up. I see Caleb smiling on the side, visible again. My team gathers around and congratulates me as I hold the flag high, so everyone can see. We are soon sent to bed, but I don't really want to go back yet. I notice that Caleb is lagging behind, so I run over to him. "Thanks for going with me," I say. "You did all of the work. Here," he says, pulling off the glasses. "Keep them. I have more," I say, though I don't know why. We are almost to the cabins when he says, "Can we talk?" I don't know what to say, so I decide to go along with it. "Sure." We head to the beach and sit down near the shore. It's starting to get awkward when he finally speaks, "Do you like me?" I was taken aback. "W-w-what?" I stutter. "I just have to know," he continues, "I love you and I want to know how you feel about me." I don't know what to say. I honestly don't know how I feel about him. It's just happening so fast. We sit there for a few minutes, not sure how to break the silence, before he stands up. "I should be getting to bed," he says as he walks away. I sit there, just thinking, and before I even realize what I'm saying, I hear myself whisper, "Yes."
