Kay's POV
Asking Caleb was easy. Asking Chris was hard. I didn't want to take him from Alexis, but I knew I needed a great fighter. I saw Kaitlyn lurking around my cabin, but I just ignored her. I heard crying from outside the Athena cabin and turned around to see Alexis and Chris. Chris is hugging her tightly as she sobs into his shoulder. "Don't cry. I won't be gone long. I'll come back to you, I promise," he tells her as she looks at him, shaking softly. "W-w-what if y-you don't m-make it?" her voice cracks on the last word. "I swear by the River Styx that I will come back to you," he promises. She looks a little better after that, knowing that he can't break that oath. I smile as I head to my bed. The nightmares were especially vivid tonight. Just my luck. I ended up just going outside for a swim around midnight to get my energy back. I don't sleep much, so I often swim during the night. I don't really worry about getting caught after curfew, because I'm out here almost every night. If someone was going to catch me, you think they would have done it by now. I'm already packed since almost all of my stuff was in my backpack already. I don't know where I got my backpack, but it holds literally anything and everything, without ever getting full or heavy. I've just had it since I woke up in New York, not even knowing who I am. I had a letter in my hand, written by me. It told me my name, my past and a few other things, like how to work my enchanted stuff, but not where I got it or how I lost my memory. I try not to think about it much, because it always gives me headaches. By the time morning comes around, I'm dressed and ready to head out. Since Chris is old enough to drive, we decided to let him drive us in his Mustang. Alexis is waiting to say goodbye to Chris and Caleb. I feel bad that I'm taking both her brother and her boyfriend away on the same day. She handles it pretty well, only crying a little bit. Percy is waiting to say goodbye to me with Sally in his arms, but I don't see Kaitlyn. We have barely known each other, but it still hurt that she didn't come to see me off. She's one of my best friends and I hoped that she would come say goodbye. I decided not to dwell on it. After we said goodbye, Caleb and I got into the backseat of the purple Mustang as Chris got in the drivers seat. "So Caleb, I hear you are having a little trouble getting a girlfriend. Am I right?" Chris asks from the front seat as we drive away. Caleb responds really intelligently for a son of Athena. "Umm...uh...well..." Chris laughs and continues, "So who is this girl that you've been crushing on?" Caleb blushes and looks down as he mutters, "Kay." Chris is shocked as he tries to think of what to say. He finally looks at me through the rear view mirror and asks, "What are your thoughts on the situation, Kay?" How do I respond to that?! "I just don't see how anyone could like me. I don't even know who I am," I spill. They both look confused and I panic. No one was supposed to know that! What is wrong with me?! They still don't say anything, so I break the silence with, "Sorry. That sounded weird." Caleb turns to me and asks, "What do you mean?" I decide to tell them a little, so I say, "I lost some of my memories. It's no big deal." Caleb looks really worried as he shakes his head, saying, "No. That is a big deal. Do you know how it happened?" I shake my head and hold my head in my hands as an intense migraine sets in. Caleb pulls me to him and holds me, trying to ease the pain. A tear falls from my face onto his arm and he holds me tighter. "It's okay. You're okay. I'll keep you safe," he whispers and I fall asleep in his arms, believing every word he says.
