Chapter 5

"Kaki," Camila hears from behind her. She turns to see her little sister walking into her room. Camila doesn't usually like people in her room since it's her space, but Sofi is an exception.

"Hey Sofi," Camila says as she puts down her guitar.

"Were you playing guitar," Sofi questions.

"I was," Camila tells the small girl, turning around to face her completely.

"Play something for me, please," Sofi ask. Camila nods, not being able to say no to her little sister. She picks up the guitar and starts strumming to 'Skinny Love' by Birdy. Sofi watches in admiration, not being able to understand how her sister is able to play so well. As Camila finishes playing the song Sofi rushes into a hug, not thinking. Camila pushes her away immediately, making Sofi fall off the bed and onto the floor.

"Ow," Sofi screams as her arm twist a way it definitely shouldn't. Not even a second later, Sinu runs into the room to find her oldest daughter on the bed with a sad face looking down at the younger one. Sinu rushes over to Sofi.

"Are you okay mija," Sinu ask as she slowly helps Sofi stand up.

"My arm hurts," Sofi whines. Sinu nods.

"Go put some shoes on. Camila, are you going to be okay here alone," Sinu ask as her oldest daughter.

"I'll call Lauren and maybe s-she can come over. Although it's not p-planned, I will be okay. Is Sofi going to be okay," Camila ask her mom. Sinu nods before leaving her room. Camila pulls out her phone and clicks on Lauren's name to call her.

"Hey, Camz," Lauren says as she answers the phone.

"Hi, Lo. I know it's not planned, b-but can you m-maybe come over right now? I hurt Sofi and mom doesn't w-want to leave me alone," Camila says, tears in her eyes.

"What do you mean you hurt Sofi? Is she okay?" Lauren panics, worried about the younger girl.

"She should be okay, her arm j-just hurts a lot. Now can you come over?" Camila ask again.

"I have a softball scrimmage in an hour. I can come over until then and maybe you can go with me to softball," Lauren suggest.

"Okay," Camila replies softly before hanging up. Camila lays back on her bed and thinks about what she's done. She feels really bad about doing that to Sofi, but Sofi should also know by now not to engage in physical contact without telling her.

Ding!

The doorbell rings and Camila rushes out of her room to get it. She opens the door to see Lauren on the other side.

"Lo," Camila says excitedly.

"Well someone's happy to see me," Lauren chuckles as she closes and locks the door behind her. Lauren looks at the girl and notices her puffy cheeks and red eyes.

"Are you okay, Camz," Lauren ask softly as she stares into the other latina's chocolate eyes.

"I hurt Sofi," Camila sobs.

"Oh Camz, I'm sure she's okay," Lauren assures her. Lauren puts her arm out, waiting to see if Camila will snuggle into her. And when she does, boy does Lauren hold her tight.

"You're okay, baby," Lauren says smiling at the pet name. They stay like that in almost full silence for almost an hour. At some point they move to the couch in the same position. Lauren hums songs that she knows, so that it's not all quiet. Camila finally lifts her head up and just stares at Lauren. Brown eyes stare right into green eyes

"C-can I kiss you," Camila ask quietly, her eyes now drifting down to Lauren's lips.

"Y-yeah," Lauren whispers, slowly leaning in. Lauren leans in until her lips finally touch Camila's soft ones. They just press lightly together for a few seconds before pulling away, but that was the best kiss Lauren has ever had.
