Chapter 12: Joe's secrets

I look at Lexie with concern,as she rummages through Joe's wardrobe."You know if he finds us right now,we are dead" I whisper to her across the room."Don't worry he is out with Ollie for another hour"
"Wait how do you know???"I asked questioning her."Because Ollie told me when they are coming back to your house" she said raising her eyebrows.

She starts to look through his clothes throwing them everywhere.I can't help myself and make my way to his bedside table.I yank open the draw and look inside,there is a notebook and some tics tacs lying around in the bottom of the draw.I put my hand right to the back of the draw and find a picture.Its of him and his parents on holiday I smile and now feel bad for going through his stuff.Lexie gasps and looks at me with wide eyes "what?" I look at her worriedly,she has something behind her back that she is hiding.Finally she shows me what she has found and I look at her in confusion."that's my dress,the one that went missing on that night" I said in shock.
"Wait he doesn't dress up in your dress,does he?" She said laughing."I don't know why would he have my dress?"
"We can't tell anyone,and if we tell him he will know we were in his room" I explained to her.
"Well someone is bound to find in his room soon" Lexie stated.

"OMG"
"What?" I say turning around.
"He left is laptop" I rushed over so fast I nearly tripped over all the mess on his floor.We turn the laptop on to discover it has a password."Now what would a teenage boy have as his password" Lexie said scowling."Try...Hamilton his surname" I say thinking some more."Bingo we are in" Lexie smiles at me excitedly.
"Let's look through his photos" she says as she clicks and types into his laptop."you know what I can't do this" I say to her turning away."wait I found a picture of a girl" Lexie looks at me."Lexie stop,I feel so bad" I slam down the laptop and walk out the room.Lexie comes back 10 minutes later fiddling with her hands looking guilty.

"I cleared up his room and put everything back where it was"
"Sorry I snapped at you" I looked up at her."it's ok I took it too far and I completely  understand that I was being a absolute idiot" she said sitting next to me."We are both to blame,we can make an agreement that we never again will snoop around anyone elses room unless its our own" I said linking arms with her."I promise" we both said in unison looking at each other and then giggling for what seemed like forever.

* An hour later *

"we are back" said Ollie and Joe as she slammed the door behind them downstairs.We heard their footsteps rushing up the stairs as me and Lexie sat there watching tv in my room quietly.My door opened and Ollie peeked his head in and had a huge smile on his face."Hey girls" he said winking.

"Hey toad" Lexie said looking at Ollie."thanks Lexie,never been called a toad before" Ollie said laughing."and you are here because..." Lexie said twirling her wrist in a sassy motion."just came to say hello,is that a crime Lexie Amberley" he started to back away from the door and walked down the hallway."god you two need to stop flirting" I said smirking." No thank you we were not flirting,I cringed when he said my full name" she said looking embarrassed.
"Well I better get home have fun with Joe and Ollie" she said grabbing her bag and phone."it was nice hanging out today I really enjoyed it" I said.
"Anytime girlfriend" she smiled and made her way to the front door downstairs,I heard the front door slam a minute later.
Now I had no one to talk to great.I decide to binge watch my favourite to series and eat everything I see.I hear mum and dad come through the door one hour later and have been out shopping."hi mum and dad" I say as I sit down on the sofa."hey Mia,was shopping fun" my mum asked me."yeah me and Lexie had a great time" I shouted as she walked upstairs away from me.
I sighed,some conversation that was.I looked up at the tv and started to daydream...
I thought about Josh and the pool incident and how the detective still hadn't checked up on us yet since the dress incident.What if it was Joe who took my dress how weird would that be,is there something big that I am missing about him,he could be a stalker.
I had to calm myself these past few weeks had drained me and I needed to stop overthinking everything.

Tomorrow I was going to visit Josh he had already text me today saying he loved me.Josh deserved someone better than me but I shouldn't ignore my feelings for him either.I loved him but I didn't show it.I got the get well soon card that mum had bought for me to give to Josh and grabbed a pink pen.I wrote in my best writing and sealed the envelope shut.I put it on the kitchen breakfast bar and then walked upstairs.
Ollie and Joe were still screaming and shouting in his room over a video game which really wasn't worth their time.Dumb people.

I put in my headphones and closed my eyes and laid onto my bed.I felt a lot calmer.I walked to go to bathroom and then heard whispers coming from Joe's room.
Ollie: "Admit if you like Mia"
Joe:"no I don't she's not my type"
Ollie:"I know you're lying"
Joe:" ok maybe I like her a little bit,and when we kissed I guess I didn't want to pull away.
My heart stopped
and I walked slowly back to my room is this a prank on me or is this true.
