Chapter 15: Filtered Feelings

My tears pour off my face like a waterfall."Joe likes me?" I whisper to myself.I look at myself in the mirror I look a mess.Mascara running down my face,and my hair in I brushed clumps.This is how I slept last night after Joe kissed me,I didn't bother to get ready for bed and just cried myself to sleep.I don't even know if Joe got home.
Why is everything changing I think to myself,why can't I go back to when I didn't have a boyfriend and focused on my grades.I was a top student in every class until,boys came into the picture and distracted me.

But when Joe kissed me last night it felt right and I seemed like I actually enjoyed."Ew" I whispered to myself shivering.But I can't just filter my feelings I've got to do the right thing.I walk towards Joe's bedroom still looking like an absolute hot mess thanks to him.
I knock on his door."Come in" he says.I slowly walk in dubious that he actually allows me in his room for the first time ever.Except for the time me and Lexie searched through his room,but he doesn't need to know about that.In fact he will never know about that.

My thoughts quickly turn to him all of a sudden."hi" I say smiling I step over all his stuff and walk over to him.Immediately he looks at me and puts down his game controller."what?" He says with a mouthful of crisps with his voice muffled."umm can we forget about yesterday I mean I've got Josh and of my mum and dad find out we are dead" I explain to him,expecting him to understand.
He turns and looks at me straight in the eyes."How can I forget about last night" his hands grab mine while his cool blue eyes stare into mine."I want you Mia" He says.
I pull my hands away,"Well I don't have the same feelings for you" and with that I run out the room.In confusion,Is this real???

* later that day *

"Ok I want to her about all of it every second and detail" Lexie says smiling at me."Ew you're such a creep,anyone would think that you had a crush on Joe or something" I said giggling at her.I sat on a fluffy pink bean bag,with my cosy pjs on.And had pizza boxes scattered across her room.I loved sleepovers at Lexie's house.We always gossiped about everyone."Come on tell me about you and Joe's kiss" She urged

"Ok,do we were near the park when he started to tell me he liked me,and then he started to kiss me,it was all very surreal" I said to her.
"I'm sorry to break it to you Mia but you have a boyfriend,and is he going to ever find out??"
"No he won't I don't want to ruin me and Josh's relationship" I explain.

"Maybe it is best to be quiet about you and Joe" She says taking another slice of pizza."Don't worry my lips are zipped" she says pretending to zip up her lips.Lexie always made me more happy about myself and that's what best friends should do,unlike other people in my school.

Lexie walks over to her shelf,"What film should we watch"She smiles at me."hmm,I feel like watching a high school movie" I say tapping my lips thinking."How about Mean Girls"
Lexie starts to jump up and down,"that is literally my fav" she says looking for it in the shelf.Once the film has started,we sit in her bed and watch it together.

My Phone vibrates on Lexie's bed as I look at her.I pick it up."It's Josh" I say as I walk out of her room,as I get to her bathroom I answer the call.

Me: Hello Josh
Josh: Hey Mia,I was looking at a school trip coming up at our school soon.
Me: What for sixth formers?
Josh: Yea,It's a trip for our year,but we have to get tickets quick otherwise we might miss out.
Me: That's cool,but where is it?
Josh: New York City
Me: wow,that's  far away.
Josh: I know but it's a once in a lifetime chance,that we have got to take.
Me: I will ask my mum and dad,and see if they'll let me go.
Josh: Well I'll see you later,love you
Me: Love you too.

I ended the call and sat on the edge of the bath for a few seconds.New York,was my absolute dream,I had to go,but Joe would want to go too.
This is going to be hard to pay for too.It will cost too much I doubt my mum and dad can afford it.

I walk back into the room and sit down next to Lexie.
Lexie looks at me for a while waiting for me to talk to her."Well?" She finally says."There is a school trip to New York  and Josh wants me to go with him"
I explain to her.She looks at me in shock."Where's my invite?" She says giggling."We could both go with Josh,we will have to get tickets quick if we want to go with the school though" I say.

"I'm so excited" Lexie says jumping up and down on her bed."I could be going to America" she says getting more excited.

After the sleepover the next morning I go home.I fumble around for my keys in my backpack as I open my front door.Mum is in the kitchen with her back turned."Hi mum" she turns around to face me."Oh hi you're back" she says smiling.
"I know what you're going to ask me"
" what?" I say with a worried expression."You want to go on the New York trip with the school" She says.
How did you know?" I ask her."Joe wants  to go and he asked me first and I knew you'd want to go"
Joe wants to go,well this is going to awkward having Josh and Joe in the same place at once.
But sometimes you have got to take risks to follow your dreams.
