Chapter 16: Reunion

Allura and Vara were sat on the floor in the med bay, Allura sat in between Vara's legs.

"Truth or dare?" Allura asked, continuing the game they had been playing for the past half a varga.

"Truth." Came the response from Vara.

"Hmm... What is the strangest thing you've ever eaten?" Allura asked her, threading her hand through Vara's.

She thought for a while before chuckling and responding. "One of my hatch mates convinced me that Balmera crystals were edible when I was young. It was embarrassing to explain to my father why I came home with two broken teeth."
Allura laughed, leaning her head against Vara's shoulder so she could look up at her.

"It wasn't funny!" Vara protested, smiling none the less.

"I know, I'm sorry it's just...Balmera crystals?" Allura pressed her face into Vara's chest to muffle her laughter. Vara leaned down and pressed a kiss on Allura's hair when she heard a ping sound through the room. Both of them turned to look at Shiro's pod, eyes going wide when it let out a hiss and began to open.

Allura scrambled to her feet and hurried over to the pod, Vara following.

"I'll go get the others." Vara told Allura, placing her hand on Allura's shoulder and running down the corridor towards the kitchen.

Matt walked in. "Sorry, I'm back what..." he looked at the hissing pod. "I'll go get Jynn." He explained, running out of the room.

Vara made it to the kitchen in a matter of moments and skidded to a halt in the doorway.

"Shiro's walking up." She said to the others, who were all gathered there.

"Wait really?" Hunk said, and Vara nodded. That's all that took for them to leap to their feet and out of the door, Vara following behind them.

Keith ran quicker than the others, his breath heavy as he kind of forgot about Lance. He made it to the med bay first. He quickly ran up to the pod.

Meanwhile, Matt ran down to Jynn's room, his pace quick. He got there and threw open the door. Jynn laid inside, asleep. "WAKE UP SHIRO'S AWAKE!" Matt yelled to the girl. Jynn shot up and turned to him.

"Is he really awake?" She asked, astonished. He nodded and she jumped out of the bed, hurrying with him down the hall to the med bay.

Back at the med bay, Vara came in behind them all, to see Allura stood in front of the pod as it opened fully.

Shiro took in a deeper breath, he slowly opened his eyes, "Wha..." he asked.

"It's good to have you back Shiro." Allura grinned at him.

"Where am I?" He asked, reaching his hand out. Keith Grabbed it and helped him down, holding him up as much as he could with how short he was.

Allura placed a hand on his arm, guiding him out of the pod. "You're in the medical wing in the castle. You're safe, Shiro."

"Where's..." his sentence was cut off by someone yelling while running to the door.

"Where is he?!" Jynn asked. Her eyes met his, and there was a moment of silence. It's as though the world stopped. A smile crossed the two's faces, and she ran to him, wrapping her arms around him. "I'm sorry." she began, hiding her face in his chest.

"I told you you guys could do it." He responded, holding her.

Allura took a few steps away out of respect, going to stand near Vara.
