The YKSS Begins

Part 14: Lonely Wolf

  The next day, Logan, Molly, and Flurria were getting ready to walk home from school, but then one of their classmates, Thomas, ran up to them with his phone and said, "Hey, guys! You've gotta check this out!" He showed them an article on his phone and continued, "According to this article, the top of Mount Wildwood is probably haunted! All kinds of crazy things are going on up there! The bugs are mating way more than usual, and fish are jumping to people who get close to the lake! Nobody knows why these things are happening, but the person who wrote this article thinks that it's infested with ghosts!"

  As Molly finished packing up, she turned to Logan and asked, "Logan, do you think a Yo-Kai might be behind this?"

  Logan replied, "That definitely seems likely. Maybe we should check it out."

  When they got home, they stocked up on equipment (Yo-Kai Medals, nets, walkie-talkies, etc.), told their respective parents where they were going, and headed off. When they got to the top, Logan and Molly started searching the forest while Flurria checked the shrine. After some time, they got separated... Until Logan found a Yo-Kai behind a bush and brought the girls to the scene. "Oh, that poor, poor thing!" Molly exclaimed as her eyes welled up with tears.

  It was a small wolf pup Yo-Kai with two snipped ears, fur tufts on its forehead, sharp claws, and noticeable fangs, and it was stuck in a bear trap. The ear innards, eyes, nose, and tattered scarf were red, the legs, stomach, fur tufts, and tail tip were gray, and the rest of the body was black. Logan tried to pry the trap open, but it was no use. Luckily, Flurria was strong enough to open it. When they were done, they took the wolf pup to Logan's house, treated its wounds, and gave it some food. Molly started petting it and asked, "Are you okay?"

  The little wolf pup looked towards her and said, "Much better. Thanks a lot."

  No problem," Flurria responded, "my name's Flurria, by the way."

  "I'm Logan," Logan added. 

  "Name's Molly," Molly retorted, "what's yours?"

  "Lonely Wolf," and the character introduction screen introduced him as "Eerie Lonely Wolf."

  "What were you doing on Mount Wildwood?" Logan asked.

  "Well, I heard that there was a pack of wolves in the forest at the top," Lonely Wolf answered, "I saw it as an opportunity to make some new friends, and I guess I didn't notice the bear trap."

  "Were you the one inspiriting the bugs and fish?" Molly asked.

  "Yeah, it's my inspiriting ability," Lonely Wolf responded, "they don't call me 'Lonely Wolf' for nothing."

  "Okay, lemme get this straight," Flurria retorted, "you were causing all the craziness on Mount Wildwood because you just wanted to make some new friends?"

  "Pretty much," Lonely Wolf sadly turned his head down.

  "We could be your friends," Molly sweetly reassured him, "and you could live with Logan."

  "Yeah," Logan agreed, "it'll be really cool having a wolf pup as a pet."

  Lonely Wolf gave Logan and Molly his Yo-Kai Medal and became an official YKSS member.
