(POV) (And) Peggy:

I smile at John as we sit next to each other in art class. We chat as we continue with our sketches from last lesson. As I sketch out a colour chart and begin testing my markers John sighs.
"You okay?" I ask even though I know he's far from it.
"Mhm." He murmurs, still focusing on shading a picture of a man at the back of his sketchbook. Alexander.
"That's good." I say, then I move his hand. "Nice shading! You've got him spot on there!"
"Thanks." He murmurs, resting his head in his hands.
Poor guy.
"Here," I say, "lemme see!" I reach over and gently take his sketchbook. "John... these are amazing!"
"Bitch please. Stop feeling sorry for me!" He says quietly.
"Don't 'bitch please' me you freckled dwarf! I love the way you've captured his eyes!"
Alexanders eyes are bright and vibrant; just like he was when he was alive. John has effortlessly captured it, and his smile.
"I'm sorry Peggy... I just can't stand all this pity! So much unwanted attention!" He says, breaking into a smile.
"There he is!" I laugh, and I pull him into a hug. He smells of cookie dough and aftershave.
"John?"
"Yes?"
"Can I ask you a question?"
He hesitates before answering. "Yep."
I take an exaggerated smell. "Who were you trying to impress?"
This caught him off guard, so I add, "With the aftershave? Really?"
He laughs and shrugs, grinning his stupid freckly head off.
"I missed you John!"
"I missed you too Peggy!"
Then we both turn and get back on with our art, defying the rules of nerdiness by chatting about things that most people who weren't majoring in art wouldn't have a clue about. This is the John I missed. But now I have him back.

(POV) Mulligan:

As I rush down the crowded corridor, I scan the faces to see if Lafayette is anywhere. We need to speak.
He is the only one who can sort out Jefferson. I spot Peggy and I wave, she smiles then leaves her small group of friends to come join me on my mission.
"Hercules," she begins, "We need to find Lafayette. He's the only one who can help!"
"I know!" I laugh as I tell her the plan.

Lafayette is the only person who could be considered 'close' out of the revolutionaries as they're cousins - by marriage - and Thomas seems to be scared of him. In kindergarten, Lafayette threatened to hit him and he pissed his pants - literally! Of course no one is allowed to remember that, but it's my sort of truce to him. I seem to be the only one who remembers!
But we need to sort this guy out; for Johns sake.
