Chapter 19: pyschopath

||Madeline||North Carolina||
The next day...
Jake should be here in and hour or 2. I'm really happy to see him, but I miss Emilio. I still haven't talked to Cole and I haven't eaten since breakfast yesterday at the Team 10 house. I'm going to go get a bag of chips or something and try to avoid Cole.
I walked out of my room and Cole was sitting on the couch watching tv.

Cole: Hey, Maddi

I ignored him. I grabbed a bag of jalapeño flavored chips and started to walk back to my room.

Cole: talk to me little girl! You can't just ignore me! Jack or James or whatever doesn't care about you. He doesn't even want you there.

Madeline: COLE! I swear! His name is Jake and as of right now, it appears that he cares about me more than you do!

Cole: I don't know why you're so mad at me. I'm just looking out for you and I haven't done anything wrong!

Madeline: oh my lord! You crazy psychopath! I don't know how you figure that you haven't done anything wrong.

Cole: Psychopath?! I'll show you psychopath!

As he said that he picked up a knife and threw it at me. I ducked and he missed but the knife stuck in the wall. His nurse isn't here yet, she doesn't come till 10 and it's only 9:15. I take off running grabbing his car keys on the way out of the house. I dialed 911

*on phone*
Operator: 911, what is your emergency?

Madeline: my brother just threw a knife at my head, I dodged it but I think he might need some mental help. I'm in the car right now, should I leave or wait for help to arrive?

Operator: please stay there, help is on the way.

Madeline: ok, thank you so much.

I hung up the call and stayed in the car. I texted Emilio.

*texting*
Madeline: Emilio, I'm really worried! Cole just threw a knife at my head... I think he's going crazy...

Emilio: what?! Are you ok?

Madeline: I'm in the car, I'm ok physically but I've never seen him like that. I dodged the knife and it stuck in the wall behind me... if I hadn't of ducked I'm not sure what would've happened.

Emilio: I don't even want to think about what would've happened. Jake is almost there, I told him to go straight there and sign into the hotel later... I really want to see you Maddi<3

Madeline: I really want to see you too. I miss you so much. The police just got here and so did Jake. I gotta go.

I pressed send on the message and got out of the car. I walked over to Jake and gave him a hug.

Jake: I have a surprise for you...

When he said that I looked around and saw Emilio getting out of the uber. I was so excited I took off running. He hugged me and picked me up. I wrapped my legs around his waist and he carried me back over to Jake. I was crying tears of joy, he's the only thing I had wanted since I got back to North Carolina.
I was talking with Jake and Emilio when the police came over.

Officer: are you Madeline Andrews?

Madeline: yes sir.

Officer: ok, your brother is being put into the mental institution of North Carolina... we understand that he is your legal guardian but you have been staying in L.A. with Mr. Paul for the past week or so?

Madeline: yes.

Officer: ok, well if it's ok with you Mr. Paul, we'd like for her to continue living with you in California. You just need to sign some papers to become her legal guardian.

Jake: yes, that'd be great!

I was so happy! Not only could I go back to L.A. but Jake was going to be my Legal guardian. I give Jake and Emilio a big hug and my phone vibrates in my back pocket.

*texting*
Mark: Hey, I just saw you on the news... are you ok?

Madeline: yea. I'm fine now.

Mark: ok, that's good. I see that you're back in N.C. Did you not like L.A.?

Madeline: I had some issues with my brother but I'm flying back tomorrow.

Mark: oh... well that sucks. You wanna grab a coffee or some before you fly out?

Madeline: I would... but I have a boyfriend and I'm going to be hanging out with him tomorrow.

Mark: you still haven't broken up with him?

Madeline: no, I did. I have a new boyfriend, in L.A.

Mark: oh... well I hope you have fun. Bye

I didn't text back... I think he was upset. I love Emilio and I'm not going to hang out with other guys while we're still together. I really did want to spend time with Emilio.
