Chapter 18: North Carolina

||Madeline||
Emilio: Maddi, wake up.

Madeline: what?

Emilio: where are Paris and Ivan? They aren't in my room and they didn't tell anyone they were leaving.

Madeline: well, if they're both gone then they're together and they're safe as long as they're together, don't worry.

Emilio: ok, good mo-

Emilio gots cut off by the doorbell.

Madeline: I'll get it.

I opened the door to see a an older man, maybe 40, in a suit.

Man: Madeline Andrews?

Madeline: that's me...

Man: I'm going to have to ask you to come with me.

When he said that Emilio immediately got up and ran to the door.

Madeline: Emilio, go get Jake please.

Emilio ran to go get Jake.

||Jake||
I was in the middle of vloging when Emilio ran in and said some guy was trying to take Maddi.. I went downstairs and walked straight to the door.

Jake: what's going on?

Man: hello, I'm Richard Lunings with social services. Madeline's legal guardian, Cole Andrews, said that she ran away and was staying here refusing to come back. I'm just here to bring her back to her brother, I don't want any problems...

Jake: ok, well... Cole Andrews signed a contract agreeing to Madeline living here for the next five years so I could show you that... or I could just tell you that it isn't safe for her to be there right now... Cole was here recently and he slapped a 15 year old girl in the face and beat up one of the other people who live here... I really think it's best that Madeline stays here.

Richard: I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but in order to let her stay here, I'd need to see that contract or a police report for the incident.

Jake: here is a copy of the contract... you're welcome to come in. Madeline, Emilio, go upstairs please... I'll handle this.

||Emilio||
I grabbed Madeline's hand and we went upstairs. Nobody was in my room so we went in there. I'm really worried. What if she has to go back to North Carolina?

Madeline: Emilio, I'm scared...

Emilio: me too...

We sat down on the couch and she put her head on my shoulder. We just sat there in silence until Jake called her downstairs.

Jake: the contract only states that you are a part of team 10 for 5 years... I don't have custody of you so I can't keep you here... I'm so sorry Madeline, there's nothing I can do right now. You have to go back to North Carolina. I will fix this! I promise.

Madeline: no! Please Jake! There has to be something you can do...

||Madeline||
I started crying. I can't leave. I love Team 10... I love Emilio.

Emilio: she can't go back there, Cole is mad and suicidal and she can't go!

Richard: there is a nurse staying with Cole watching him closely.

Emilio: if she leaves, I'm going with her...

Madeline: that's not a good idea... he already beat up your twin, I couldn't live with myself if something happened to you too... I love you, Emilio, I will be back.

I walked out with Richard and I got in the backseat of his car, Jake said we would fly out tomorrow and try to get custody of me for the next 3 years and I really hope everything works out... I can't imagine my life without Team 10... without Emilio...
we drove to the airport and got on the plane.
Around 4 hours later...
We just got back to my house in North Carolina. I go straight to my room avoiding Cole. He's crazy if he thinks I'm going to stay here. I went to my room and locked the door. I'm not going to talk to him, I'm not going to look at him.

||Jake||Team 10 house||
Emilio has been crying ever since Maddi left, I've never seen him so messed up, you can tell he really loves her. My flight is in 3 hours and I'm going to surprise Emilio with the extra ticket. I still can't get ahold of Ivan or Paris and I'm starting to get worried but I'm sure they're fine.
Emilio said he's sleeping in Madeline's bed until she gets back. I walk over to the bed and he's sitting there crying and looking at pictures of him and her.

Jake: I have something for you.

Emilio looks up and I hand him the phone, which has the flight information on it.

Emilio: is the other one for me??

Jake: of course! It wouldn't be right to go without you, don't tell her though, I want to surprise her.

Emilio: thank you so much, Jake!
