Chapter 8: Alive

The Talon base was in a panic. Soldiers were scrambling around, trying to get themselves together. They were stunned at the news that Overwatch had captured Widowmaker, and now their base was under attack.

They converged upon the big door, setting up fortifications around it, and aiming their rifles directly at it. A commander stood up.

"All fire, on my command!" He yelled at the top of his lungs.

It was silent. The only sound was the Talon soldiers breathing into their helmets.

A loud thud sounded against the door. The soldiers remained in place. Another thud, and this one shook the door.

"Safeties off!" The commander yelled. The Talon soldiers deactivated the safeties on their guns.

Another thud, and then the doors were blasted open.

"OPEN FIRE!!" The commander shouted. The soldiers fired their guns for a full thirty seconds before the commander shouted to cease fire.

Silence.

You leaned your head in, a surprised expression decorating your face.

"I think they know we're here."

The Talon soldiers looked at each other, confused. You took that distraction to whack one in the face, and pull out a laser pistol. Behind you, Genji jumped, throwing shurikens all around. Three more soldiers went down. Booming laughter echoed to your right, as Reinhardt slammed right into two more soldiers. You walked right up to the Talon commander, who was grabbing a stun baton. He slashed at you, but you dodged and shot him in the arm, causing him to yell and drop the stun baton. You aimed right at his head.

"This is the facility that you use to program people, right?"

The commander swallowed. "Yes."

"You're gonna take me and my friends here to it. Got it?"

The commander nodded. "F-Follow me."

He lead the three of you to the lower levels. The facility was divided into separate sections: the neural reconditioning room, the training area, and the laboratory.

Genji looked at you.

"So, what are we looking for?"

"Anything that can tell us how to reverse Amelie's condition. It's here somewhere."

"Y-You would want the laboratory, then," the commander stated. "The book is there."

"Take me there. Guys, search for anything else that might be important." You looked at Genji and Reinhardt. "And plant the bombs," you added.
