Jake:
I've finally found her. I can see her.
I've been searching for so long, and there she is, just standing behind the tree.
I've been walking through this forest for what feels like ages, but now she's there. Right in front of me.
"Bethany," I whisper and walk closer to her.
"No, stop," she says in demand.
I stand still and say, "Don't be scared, I'm here now."
"No, you're not. You wish you were," she whispers with tears in her eyes.
I walk until I'm in front of her when I want to take her hand, something makes a cracking noise behind me. When I turn around I see Lily.
"Lily?" I say frightened.
When I turn around to Bethany, she's gone. She disappeared again.
"Why did you kill me?" Lily asks and it sends chills up my spine.
"I didn't kill you, you fucking killed yourself!" I yell back.
"Don't you remember babe?" she says, while she strokes my cheek with her hand. Her strawberry blonde hair blows lightly in the wind and her blue eyes pierce into mine.
"You're the reason. For all of this. You're the reason that Bethany is suffering, but let's get her out of the picture. She's dead now, so you have me all to yourself. We finally got rid of her, haven't we?" she says in such a convincing way.
"No, I can protect her, nothing is going to happen to her," I shout to Lily.
"It's too late. She's dead," she says with a smirk.
"Lily, no, Lily please."
"Jake, Jake honey, wake up, Jake?" my mom, Louise, shakes me awake. It was a dream?
"What are you doing here?" I ask her.
"You were shouting Lily's name in your sleep and your Dad and I got worried. Is there something bothering you honey?" she tells me.
"I'm sorry for waking you up, I'm fine Mom," I say to her.
She hugs me and my dad comes in.
"I'm seriously considering moving this family somewhere else, and fast," my dad, Liam, says.
"Like where?" my mom asks him confused.
"Like anywhere but Havenhill," he answers.
"So the Reed family will be moving out of this town," my mom says sadly.
"Why would you want to move dad?" I ask him.
"Son, every day, they are finding new bodies and ironically enough they are all your age. I am talking about the kids that go to the same school as you. The mysteriousness and suddenness of their deaths are terrifying, it's no wonder you can't sleep. It's haunting, especially when you think about that girl who just vanished," he says, his voice trailing off.
"Honey, stop," my mom tells my dad. Everything feels very earie.
"Dad we can't just move. What if Bethany comes back? I want to be here when she does," I say.
"That name sounds familiar," my dad states.
"It's the missing girl," my mom tries to whisper to him, but I can still hear her.
"Oh I see," he says, stands up, and walk to the door. "Goodnight son," he says and walks out.
"Night."
"Is there anything I can do to make it better?" my mom asks.
"Just leave it Mom, please," I say and she says goodnight. She walks out of my room and now I can finally sleep, but that's the problem. I can't sleep, not with that nightmare haunting me.
I get a text message from Fice and it says:
I'm trying to be the lover of your nightmare, but I guess Lily already did that, didn't she? - 🔥❄️
Logan:
Just when I started liking her, she died.
Fucking Fice.
I swear if Fice is the murderer, I will kill him or her.
Was it a murder? No one knows what happened.
I keep thinking about Bethany because I feel sorry for her. I can't imagine the pain she'll have to go through when she comes back. Jake hasn't been to school for the last three days. He's probably really worried about Beth, I can see that he cares about her.
Jake heard the news today, he didn't take it well.
Everything in Havenhill is so messed up.
Everyone here mysteriously dies, I'm possibly next.
I just hope that Bethany is safe.
Bethany:
Now that I finally have some decent information that could maybe link toward Fice, I'm going back. How is not the question right now.
I have to go to Jake's house first, I need to tell him. My mom can wait.
I'm finally at his doorstep after avoiding several people. No one should know that I'm back yet, except for Jake and his family.
I knock loudly on the door and his dad opens it. It's like 1 AM so I hope they'll let me in.
"Um, sir, can I please speak to Jake?" I say awkwardly.
"Why at this late hour?" he asks sleepily.
"It's really important," I say.
"Who are you?" he asks me when he lets me in. Finally a decent home in like, two weeks?
"I'm um," I say. Should I tell him? Everyone knows that I'm the missing girl.
"Bethany?" Jake says in shock when he sees me.
"Jake," I sigh and we run towards each other. He embraces me in a hug and for the first time in a long time I feel safe. I truly feel safe.
"Where were you?" he breathes and his dad leaves us alone. He's probably going to rage at his wife about me being here when the police are probably looking for me.
"At the Fairylights Motel. Just outside town. I checked in under a different name, that's why the police never found me there," I say looking him in the eye as he holds my hand.
"Why? Why did you go?" he asks me, looking upset.
"It's a long story, I will explain later, but right now there's something very important that I need to tell you. I found something that could maybe be linked to Fice. When I checked in I scanned over the names of people who had checked in previously. Guess who was there once? Maya. She checked in. Maybe that's where she built her lair and where she stalks us from. But that's not the only thing I saw," I say but get cut off by Jake.
"It's not Maya," he says and he looks away from my eyes. What?
"But this proves..."
"She's dead Bethany. Maya's dead," he says coldly.
I stumble backward until my back hits the wall behind me.
No words can express how I feel at this moment.
I slide down to the floor and tears spill out.
Fice's name says it all. In life, you're either Fire or Ice.
