Bethany:

I'm dressed and kind of ready for this new day. Yesterday was something I never even wish my worst enemy would ever experience.

I look at the pink teddy bear on my bed. I remember how my dad was crying the day he died. He was very upset about something and it's mom's fault.

I just want my dad back so, so much. I miss him more with every passing minute.

I sit on my bed and take the pink teddy bear in my hands. It has these tiny glitters in it's fur and it's so fluffy. Dad named it Briley the day he passed away.

"I missed you, Briley," I whisper to the teddy.

I put the teddy back on my bed and then open my bedside table's drawer. I take out a small letter.

It's the letter that Jake gave me that day when we were worried about Fice. I never read it.

It says: Together, we're stronger than Fice.

Why didn't I read this sooner?

I need to go to his house. I want to tell him about my mom. I have no one to talk to, except for him. Of course, I have my friends, but I don't feel as close to them as I do with Jake.

I grab my phone and run downstairs to where my mom is sitting with photos in her hands.

"What's that?" I ask her. She looks up at me and for a moment she looks like she wants to hide the pictures, but decides not to.

"Photos of me when I went on tour before I gave birth," she says.

"Okay, well I'm going to Jake's house," I say and turn around to walk.

"No, Bethany. You stay away from that family. They're terrible people. You don't know them like I do," she says and I'm just shocked. What does she think she's saying?

"They're the nicest people I've ever met. At least they care about me, unlike you," I spat and she looks terrified.

"Bethany, I..."

"Mom, why do you despise Jake?" I ask her.

"I do not despise him," she says and sighs, looking down at the pictures.

"I got his mother fired. Louise was observing our house from the inside this one day, since that's her job as an interior designer because our whole company had to take turns at each other's houses. It was just a fun get-to-know-you project until she stole something from us. I caught her in the action and I got her fired," she says and I just want to cry again.

"Well maybe there was a perfect explanation for what she did, but you being you would of course never listen to anything anyone has to say. I would know, because you always shut me out," I yell and tears fill my eyes all over again.

"Bethany dear," she says standing up and I run out of the house. I call a taxi driver and it drives me to South Havenhill.

"Thanks," I say and pay the driver.

I walk up to Jake's door and knock. I just hope he answers and not his dad.

"Bethany," he says, surprised to see me.

"Can I maybe come in for a few minutes?" I ask him.

"Yeah, sure," he says and smiles.

"Mom, Beth's here," he says when he walks past her.

"Hi darling, how are you doing sweetie?" she asks me so nicely. How can she be this nice to me even though my mom got her fired?

"I'm fine thanks, Mrs Reed. I just, I found out about what my mom did to you. How aren't you furious?" I ask her.
