Chapter 20

Fice:

It's strange to think I used to be Briley's friend before she vanished. 

A week has passed since Briley came back home. When the word got out, the town went crazy. Not just because Briley was back, but because Maya was too.

Maya was the other girl who got kidnapped along with Briley. It's mind-boggling how the cops didn't figure it out sooner. Both their "deaths" went down at the hospital. Roger managed to pull off the same trick twice. He posed as another doctor when Maya was in the hospital.

It was kind of sweet, I'll give it that, when Bethany and Briley invited the whole crew over on the 22nd. Jake rolled in first, then the rest of the gang.

What'll happen if they uncover I'm Fice? Honestly, I'd rather they didn't. I've already done a lot of irreversible damage. Maybe I should quit the game, but it's tough. I want them to own up for what they did to me.

I was outside their window that day, the day they all found out about Briley's return from the dead. 

Fice's flashback to three days ago:

Briley walks down the stairs and gets a fright when she sees Jake. He smiles and says, "Hey."

She frowns at him and stares. Briley and Jake were best friends, since they used to be in the same class. The year after she disappeared, Jake ended up in Bethany's class.

"What?" he says and she smiles.

"Is there something on my face?" he says and then she kind of looks sad, almost? In a way, she looks bothered by the fact that he doesn't recognize her, but I can't blame him. He still thinks she's dead so why would he suddenly guess that she's in front of him, especially because they're identical?

"Bethany, what's wrong?" he says and comes closer to her. Tears form in her eyes, but she smiles. She runs to him and then hugs him, swaying side to side.

"I'm not Bethany," she says and he pulls away instantly.

"What?" he says looking truly baffled.

"That's Briley," Bethany says, smirking when she comes out of the kitchen.

His eyes move between the two of them and his lips part instantly.

"But I thought you..." he says and hugs Briley again.

He looks up to Beth while hugging Briley and she smiles. "Long story," Beth mouths to him.

They then waited for everyone else to show up, to tell them the whole story.

-End of flashback-

The thing that bothered me most about the story they had told, was me. They told Briley everything about the mighty villain, Fice. 

They don't know what they have done. They introduced Briley to the game.

Skyler then said, "What if Fice does have a reason? I mean, why would some random person just target you two?"

They now lowkey suspect her to be Fice.

The twins' mom made the whole event so welcoming.  It makes me mad again just thinking about it. My mom isn't like that at all. She doesn't even have enough money to fulfill my daily needs, because of her lame job. I hate telling people about her job. And my dad...I don't want to think about it.

Bethany:

"I still can't believe that you're dating Jake Reed," Briley says and I roll my eyes.

"We're not dating."

"Well, you will. And look, now you're blushing," she says and smiles.

"Stop," I say laughing and blushing even more.
