Present.
I heard dogs barking as I was crossing the street.
Anony Person- "Would you be interested in..." I walked past.
First period flew by and before I knew it I was already in last period study hall.
Faints whispers about the recent killings in a town flew past my ear when I opened google and saw the article about the topic for homework.
It wasn't more important than this assignment, I thought as I began typing math equations into the search bar and hoped I would find answers.
Come On....tomorrow is Saturday and I just want to sleep, my worried mind wandered while tapping my pencil. One more assignment.
My eyes glanced for a moment as I saw two girls holding books on The holocaust, leaning near the "Nonfiction" section.
Twenty minutes passed when I finally wrote some ill written answer and the final bell rang.
"Have a good weekend." Was yelled by the monotone librarian as she kept stamping time cards from the pile of books that resided in a plastic bin.
Up the stairs and to my small locker I stuffed my paper in a random folder then grabbed my bag and shut the door.
People laughed as others shouted crude things at their friends to get another laughing stalk from both parties. It pissed me off.
The walk was quiet.
My only friend Liz would usually accompany me but today she was absent from what I presume was a doctor's appointment or her brothers non existent will to drive her.Either way the park expected me.
A small hope came in me when I had the idea to use the old payphone in the back of the school. I wanted to call Liz to see if she wanted to meet but knowing it was a twenty minute drive and an hour walk I ignored the thought completely.
Slowly the crowd became quieter the farther I was. I took rights on some blocks and stared in the glass storm doors that remained locked in some of the nicer houses. Inside some I could see children playing in their yard, others were sick pre- teens playing xbox in their living rooms as their parents were of at work.
Reminded me of the days.
The trees slowly showed themselves as I approached the empty park.
The town was quiet and the park was abandoned. Even though it was going into the colder months this park still wasn't really used.
Since a few years back a new park was built when an empty plot of land was bought and appeared much larger and brighter than this one. People just naturally migrated to it and left this one empty for the majority of the time.
My feet crunched as I stepped on the changing leaves. Staring at the one bench that I haven't sat in,
in a month.
The thoughts that prepared me for this came rushing in as I reviewed my thoughts from last night.
Comeon Dei, Just fucking do it.
I thought as I sat on the cold seat.
Tears came to my eyes.
Life isn't ever going to be the same of how it was.
*Crunch, Crunch*
I looked up as eyes struck me like a knife.
Slowly slicing me.
I made eye contact.
There was a weird vibe..
The man appeared to be 5'10 with nothing but black clothes on.The contrast being his bright blue socks and his evil gray eyes.
I looked away.
But the crunching continued as I could map out every step he took and could feel his eyes watching my every breath.
Something doesn't feel right, I thought.
Should I go?
When I looked up there was no one.
Confused I sat there as the wind blew quietly in my face.
*Authors note: Dei isn't pronounced as Die but as Day.*
