The wall

My feet feel an icy burn.

My ribs.., thumped in a slow pattern.

My whole body, swayed at an upbeat.

Lenny?, I thought. I didn't dare to speak a word as my mouth hurt and my throat was.., scratchy.

Murmur.. Murmur.

My ears wouldn't pick up a sound. The only thing I could listen to was the mumbles of the unseen people that my closed eyes wouldn't show.

It scared me...opening eyes. For Lenny could be standing in front or maybe behind or maybe beside or even in the next room over. The places were endless.

My body dropped.

Pain entered.

My body pained unlike anytime before though I found myself not moving. Not opening my eyes, not screaming. Just laying there like a hurt deer.

A hurt deer? My mind rid of rational thought.

I am not hurt?

Neither am I a deer?

I thought about those two sentences a lot in the darkness of my own eyelids.

My brain felt like mixed up english scrabble letters to a person who can only speak Russian.

I couldn't even think thoughts but when I did I admired them and rethought them like a child repeating their first words.

Random things like Roses, Tennis court, Street lights, Felt marker, and sidewalk would pop in my head with their own little images. Sky, was the one I admired the most, the most beautiful picture.

When I turned back to look at the street light again something in my head told me to open my eyes. "No" I told the voice. "I'm not ready", anxiety filled my chest. "You're more than enough ready." The voice told me steadily.

I clenched my eyes shut as they started to drift open on their own. I couldn't do anything when I saw my blurred eyes go into focus.

"Leave him there, he's knocked out anyways." Were the first words I heard. The person had an aggravated tone. "But what if he wakes up?"

"Then he'll be awake." The first person replied in a more annoyed way. A woman came to ears. "Look just do your job and leave, okay?"

I heard clicking of heels move away.

But the grey beamed ceiling looked like it was moving forward and back.

"Close your eyes." The voice told me.

I listened.

"See kid, he's stone cold. Leave the worrying for someone above your stance." A man spoke while his words echoed the room. "Alright, I guess you haven't eaten yet, have you?", the man said in a more uptone. His words became further away and incoherent.

I opened my eyes once more when the room was silent. "Are you okay Honey?" My head rang confused as I thought there was no one in the room. "I don't know", I thought.

"It's okay to not know", she said. Her voice was clear, not to loud or soft. "How's your foot doing, love?"

On my side position I moved my neck slowly to the other side then down toward my feet. My neck pained. I looked at my feet which were blue. Wet red marks were on them. "Poor thing." The voice said. "A terrible thing you got yourself into."

I started to move my body and head to follow the sound but it remained neutral...

Nothing else was said when I got a look at the huge cement warehouse room and layed there for what seemed like seconds when a louder voice echoed. "Looks like you are awake." A rough looking man walked toward me with a black sweatshirt on. He went out of my vision and I felt him grab my leg and pull me. I saw myself move toward the direction that I had not looked toward yet, my left side.

Numb feet were all I could feel when the light became dimmer and I felt my body go over a lump. Clink. I moved my head up and looked at my left side vision. A giant cement door.

Flick. A weird sudden sound.

Orangish light rolled in quietly.

"Be good kid." A new voice told me from behind. The man stepped over me and closed the huge door, leaving me inside. The only thing I saw was his back..

As anyone in my position I felt confused and lost but weariness over swept me. My torso began numbing since the excruciating pain didn't seem to stop. The cement floor felt like mattress. My clothes, warm blankets. I didn't think twice about falling asleep.

After what felt like a long sleep I awoke in a more sane state. At least I think..

My whole body throbbed and ached like never before but instead I didn't bat an eye. I sat up for the first time for what I thought was forever and felt like I was getting my ground from a bad high. Previously laying down I felt spinny but now everything was at a standstill. I could feel the coldness hit my spin from the cold cement wall of the tiny room. I could feel the coldness of the shackle on my right foot and the coldness of my non existent thoughts and the coldness of those men's thoughts.

Memories though, I felt nothing about those since all I remember was this little room. My vision shakingly showed me the room, which was an orange color. I could tell this because the flambeau looking thing on the wall seemed to be running out of flame. "What is this?"

I was looking down when a pair of shoed feet appeared in front of me. "Are you okay Dear?"

I looked up to see a beautiful girl who was indescribable. The only noticeable thing was her floral dress and her vicious red hair. She looked as if she was apart of a different generation.. A simpler time. She held her hand out for little bit before realizing that I wasn't going to grab it. As her alternative she sat next to me, leaning against the deadly wall. "You've been here for quite a while." She looked at me solemnly. Tilting her head to the side she continued, "Don't you miss home?"

"Home?"

"Yes home. Where all the people you love are at?"

I shook my head vigorously and thought to myself, "You must have the wrong person."

"No", she replied. "You're the right person." No, I replied. You definitely have the wrong person. She was quiet until I heard her lips part. "And why is that?"

I couldn't think of a reply so I lowered my head. "Is it because you don't remember anything?" Her hand came in my vision and she seemed to raise my head from under my chin. "If that is so then just remember that I am your memories." She was crouched down in front of me. "It's going to be all right."

Creek

I watched the doorknob behind the woman move, when it stopped I tried to put my focus back on her but it appeared that she had disappeared.

The door brought a blinding light in. Three big men were standing in front of me with a chair with wheels. Being lost in thought I didn't realize that I was already in the chair being wheeled out into the huge area again. "You liked your three day vacation?" Someone said.

I didn't comprehend.

"Don't worry we're almost done with ya', and when we are, you can go to your little buddy of yours and tell him what we want." Yet again I didn't comprehend the word "buddy".

A man stepped on my nail-less foot and I heard myself grunt. What was that?

Blows to my chest and head came hard and fast and I soon saw a shiny object come toward my eyes. When I blacked out I screeched, a sound that even myself felt was ear curdling. But the darkness of my head only echoed the noise into a million pieces. I started to have a dream, probably was one of the most beautiful ones I've ever seen.

By the end of the dreams the  woman and I's conversation ended and I began to forget it even happened. I then felt myself rolling.
