Chapter 17

Chapter 17- You're Back

Clary's pov-

I sat in my room, tears running down my face. I'd noticed how much I'd been crying lately; normally I've got pretty thick skin but Jace just knows how to get under it; he's successfully cutting it up.

He's cutting it up with his golden eyes that I can still get lost in, and with how he makes me feel. He can say one thing with one touch and I'm on fire; at the same time though, I think I'm so addicted to the fire that I put up with the burn just for one more touch.

I was snapped out of my thoughts by a buzz on my phone. I reach over and pick it up. "Get your ass down stairs? why would he be tell-OH MY GOSH!! NO WAY!!" I squealed. I quickly wiped my cheeks and ran out the door. I went to Jace's room and pounded on the door.

"What?!" he opened the door, nearly getting hit by my knocking fist. I grabbed his hand and started pulling him to the elevator. "Come on! Move your feet faster!!" I told him. He laughed at me and we got into the elevator.

"What's going on Clary?" he asked me. I smirked as I watched the numbers go down. "You'll see." I replied. We traveled a few more floors before we were at the lobby. I shot out of the elevator and looked around the crowded, enormous lobby. I saw him standing there smiling at me.

I soon had a grin on my face running towards him. "You're back!" I said as I jumped into his arms and he caught me easily. I mean after four years training in the army, he better be able to catch me easily. "Hey little sis, I've missed you." he said..

"I've missed you too Jon." I smiled. Jon and I are the closest siblings you'll ever meet, so these past few years have been hard for us. I moved away from him but I was quickly replaced. "My brotha!" Jace said. "My brotha!!!" Jon replied as the hugged. Awe, their little bromance is so cute.

Jon looked over at me, then came up and put his hands on my cheeks. "You've been crying. Why?" He said with a deadly protective tone. My eyes flickered over to Jace before I put my hands on Jon's. "We'll talk later, okay?" I told him. He nodded hesitantly.

He asked what room Aline was in, since he wanted to go surprise her. I told him the number and he left.

"Sorry about freaking you out but I figured you'd want to be down here." I told him. He smiled and thanked me before we both headed back to our rooms.

About four hours later, there was a knock on my door. I opened it and saw Jon standing there.

"How much sex did you guys have?! My goodness! I was able to get an hour-long massage, go to the pool for a while and lay out, come back up here and shower and still have down time before you knocked!" I told him.

"You do realize I haven't seen my girlfriend in almost a year right? That's an entire YEAR without sex." he looked at me with a 'duh' expression. "Ok well did you atleast shower?" I asked with a grimace. He smirked and nodded. I just scoffed and rolled my eyes.

We walked in and he immediately demanded to know why I was crying and I knew he wouldn't let it go. When I told him, he looked furious. "I'm gonna kill him." he stood up and stormed out of the room.

"Jon wait, don't!" I yelled after him. He pounded on Jace's door. I tried to pull him back but he was obviously too strong. "What is it with people pounding on my door?!" Jace said with wide eyes when he opened the door. He looked at Jon with a confused look.

"I'm gonna kill you!!" Jon said, grabbing Jace by the collar slamming him against the wall.

"Jon it wasn't-" I started but he cut me off. "How could you hurt my sister?! How could you do that to her!" He yelled. "JON!" they both looked over at me. "It wasn't him. It was me. It's my fault. I ended it. I did it." I told him to stop him. He slowly released Jace and apologized. They both shook it off and Jon looked over at me.

"Why? Why would you end it?" I shrugged in response. "That doesn't make any sense, you guys were so happy. What happened? Why would-" I cut him off by yelling "I don't know, okay?!" He stopped questioning as I started to tear up.

"Yes I love him, and no I don't know why I did it. It just seemed like the only option back then." I told them looking down. "Love?" Jon said. "Loved. I meant loved." I said hesitantly.

Jon took a deep breathe shaking his head. "Okay, well you guys are clearly a hot mess but I'm glad to see you both. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go see my girlfriend." He said before walking out of the room.

"Love?" Jace said quietly from behind me. I was just so exhausted at this point that I had no energy to fight it.

"I don't know, Jace. This whole trip has stirred so many feelings up that I tried so hard to push down. I just, I don't know." I said as the tears were let free.

He came up to me hesitantly as if I could run away at any sudden movements. He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me closer to him. I rested my head on his chest and sighed.

After a while, I pulled away. "But this trip isn't about us. It's about Iz. We can figure this all out after we get home." I said. "Yeah, about that...." Jace said.

"What? What is it?" I asked worriedly. "My Uncle called, You know the one that running the company until I'm ready. Well he called and told me that since we are opening so many new branches in California, that one of us needs to be out there. He thinks it's the perfect place for me to start. I would obviously still run the company but we would switch the main office over to California." He told me nervously.

"So you're moving to California?" I asked confused. Now was one of the times that I forced myself to hide in the emotions. I know that if I showed emotion, he would stay in New York for me, but this is a big opportunity for him and the company and he needs to take it. "Not for sure. If you tell me there is a reason for me to stay, then I will." I nodded at what he was saying.

I smiled at him. "Go jace, you have to go. This is a big opportunity for you and the company and you need to take it. If we are meant to be then we will find our way back to each other again at some point, but this is too big for you to pass up." I told him sadly. I grabbed his hand in mine.

"Go Jace. Start your life where it's best for you. I'll be in New York but who knows, My company might send me out to California at some point too." I finished before dropping his hand with a small smile and walking out.

I guess that just made my decision for me.

I love him but we're not going to work with long distance.
