"Me?" I ask, my brows scrunches up slightly. I don't think I've ever received a letter from anyone but the bank before, and from the curly cursive hand writing in a pure black ink on the letter tells me isn't from Barclays.
I glance at Blake who's biting on the inside of her lip nervously. I turn the letter over to see a blob of red wax on the letter, a family crest punched into it. Who has sealed letters like this for the last hundred years?
I start peeling open the letter, surprised by how satisfying it is to peel away the wax from the paper. I pull out a letter and the first thing I see is my name written in the same curly writing.
Dear Miss Scarlet Valentine Blue,
I am writing on behalf of you mother, Miss Laura Blue. Whom at the present time is fast asleep. She had asked me to write to you to inform you of her well being. She wishes to assure you that she is in safe hands and would love to invite you to the castle to meet your new family.
At this moment you are probably filled with questions and I will do my best to try and put your mind at rest.
To start I will inform you of my identity. My name is Sir Victor Swingling, vampire king of the under world and now your Mother's husband to be.
Your mother is what us vampires call my blood singer. I wouldn't be telling you this if I didn't know that you have already been exposed to the world humans refuse to believe to exists, thanks to the help I received from the woodland fay whom relayed me the information that you yourself have a werewolf mate which I congratulate you on.
I wish to invite you and your mate to the castle to meet your new half siblings, father in law and attend you Mother's and my wedding.
I you choose to accept a carriage made of an acorn will await you at the edge of the lomes lake lead by the crickets and driven by Mab in the cover of twilight tonight. If you choose to reject the offer, which you are fully able to do, then I will not write to you again but you may write to us with the address on the adjoining letter and the carriage will wait for you every night at the same place and time.
With love,
Sir Victor Swingling.
My mouth hangs open as I read. I look at Blake who had been reading over my shoulder to see her eyes bulging slightly.
Neither of us say anything, just sit there in shock.
"Well, what is it then?" Matt asks fidgeting in his seat a little,
"My mum's engaged to a vampire king of the underground and he invited me to their wedding." I say, my voice sounding more steady then I had thought.
"What? Let me see that" Matt demands, snatching the letter out of my hands.
"H-how do you feel?" Blake asks, trying to read me.
"I'm not sure." I state. "I have no idea what half of this means" I admit.
"I can explain everything" Blake promises, wanting nothing more then to relive her of her stress.
"Well, that explains why we lost the sent." Matt mumbles, folding the letter and putting his head in is hands and elbows on the table with a sigh.
"Do you think it's a set up?" Blake asks her brother,
"Urm. Excuse me have you forgotten we're here?" Sam asks snatching the letter from Matts hands, just as he'd done to me, the marches back to sit on her mates lap and read the letter.
"No, it's not a set up. Victor could kill anyone he wants whenever he wants, he doesn't need to scheme like that. A human has never been invited to the under world in the whole of history, a normal earth bound super natural would be honoured to be invited!" Matt says, taking the news almost as hard as me and that's my mum!
"Do you want to go?" Sam asks me, her eyes also large.
"I don't know." I state. "I don't know anything about this ;underworld'" I admit.
"Well. If you thought us werewolves are the only beasts of this universe you have another thing coming" Matt mumbles.
