Beth watched Daryl from across the room. He was reclining in the arm chair cleaning the bolts to his cross bow. She wrung her hands together in front of her and took a shaky breath. He glanced up at her before looking back at his arrows.
"Ya okay?" He asked after a moment when she didn't speak. She looked down at her feet and shifted her weight slightly.
"Yeah." She whispered then mentally cursed herself for lying to him. Daryl cocked an eyebrow never once looking at her
"Ya know lyings a sin right?" He casually commented causing Beth to grimace.
"Ok fine I'm not okay! He was going to rape me Daryl!" She nearly shouted as tears streamed down her face. "I'm sorry." She immediately apologized whipping her arm over her eyes. Daryl sighed as he leaned forward setting his bolts on the table in front of him.
"I'm sorry kid. I shouldn't have left ya alone. Next time we don't split up ok?" Beth nodded her head as he rose with a groan. She watched him as he walked towards the kitchen. When he was nearing the door she spoke.
"I'm pregnant." She blurted out. Daryl stiffened, freezing on the spot. His hand shot out and grab the kitchen doorway for support. It was silent. Beth stared at his back watching as the muscles shook, his long fingers clutching the wood of the doorframe till his knuckles turned white.
"Ill get a test. Maybe ya just sick or something." He muttered after a moment. Beth chewed on her lip as she pulled the stick from her back pocket.
"I already took one. I saw them at the drug store and...well I remembered that...we didn't...." She cut off as tears spilled from her eyes. "What...what are we going to.do Daryl?" His hand fell from the wood as he turned to face her. She was clutching the test in her small hands, tears streaming down her face as she shook.
"Beth." She jerked her head up at his rough tone and her tear filled eyes meet his. "Grow the shell up." Her eyes widened as he leaned against the wall. "Theres no sense in crying bout something ya can't change." He ran his hand through his shaggy hair and sighed. "Well get through this kid. I ain't gonna abandon you if that's what ya think." Beth wiped the tears off her face as she nodded.
"I know." She whispered. Daryl sighed and pushed off the wall eyes narrowed.
"This don't change nothing. Me and you...ain't gonna happen again. I'll help you with the baby but don't think for one minute ill get back in bed with you."
"I don't. I don't want you Daryl. I hate you." Daryl narrowed his eyes ignoring the pain in his chest as she said those three words.
"Hate me all ya want, when the kids born its a Dixon got me?" Beth nodded and he pushed off the wall. "I'm going hunting." With that he yanked up his crossbow and bolts and left her alone once again.
Beth doubled over, hands gripping tightly at the tree next to her as she wretched for the sixth time in an hour. Daryl watched silently as the spasms wracked her body violently. He glanced around, making sure her vomiting hadn't alerted any nearby walkers. They where living in the woods again and he hated putting her in this dangerous situation but the house had become infest with walkers. They barley made it out. Beth gagged and leaned up taking a deep breath.
"I'm getting sick of this." She grumbled as she wiped her mouth with the sleeve of her jacket. Daryl sighed.
"We gotta keep moving, maybe we find a place to shack up for a few days." He said and she nodded, heating her bag back onto her shoulders. Daryl watched silently as her shoulders slumped under the weight of the bag. Cursing he yanked it off her shoulders and slung it over his.
"Ya gonna kill my kid if ya keep hauling this around." Beth's eyes narrowed.
"Shut up Mr.Dixon, your not.my boss." He gritted his teeth. She had been calling him Mr.Dixon since the night she had told him about the baby. And it was grating on his last damned nerve. He wanted to slap her every time it slipped past her lips. Slap her and then kiss her in till she was panting his name. He cursed, shaking his head as he led the way through the forest. Beth silently called him every name in the book. After walking for a few moments she began to get dizzy, he vision getting blurry. She felt herself sinking down to her knees and then face first into the forest floor.
"Beth! God damnit kid don't do this to me!"
"Beth ya gotta wake up ok? Please wake up."
Beth groaned as her eyes slowly fluttered open. She glanced around the room realizing she was no longer in the woods but on a soft bed in a small room. She sat up slowly her head swimming slightly.
"Daryl." She called weakly. She cleared her throat and tried again. "Daryl." She began to panic when he didn't respond. She pushed herself to her weak legs and stumbled to the door. She turned the handle slowly and peeked out of the room. She was in a house apparently top floor as she could hear talking coming from down stairs. She pushed herself out of the room towards the stairs. the voices grew louder as she slowly descended the stairs. When she reached the bottom she held onto the railing gasping.for breath as he head swam.
"Beth." Her head jerked up at the voice. Tears filled her eyes and she flung herself forward into the arms open for her.
"Oh Maggie I missed you so much!" She cried. Maggie wrapped her arms tightly around her younger sister as tears streamed down her face.
"I missed you too." She cried. Beth pulled back after a moment.
"Wheres Glenn? Tell me he made it please." Maggie smiled brightly.
"Yeah he's in the kitchen with Bob and Sasha. oh Beth when we found Daryl carrying you through the woods I thought you was dead." Maggie grabbed Beth's shoulders squeezing the softly. "Daryl said you had fainted. you gave him quite a scare."
"Where is he?" Beth asked and Maggie wrapped her arm around Beth's shoulder leading her towards the kitchen.
"He went on a run a few hours ago. Said he was going to look for you some medicine." Beth nodded her stomach tightening painfully. She gasped, pressing her hand to her stomach and Maggie frowned. "Youve been out for awhile you need to eat."
Just as soon as Beth saw the others she was wrapped in hugs. they laughed cried and ate as they waited for Daryl to return. But as it grew darker and Daryl still hadn't showed Beth began to worry.
"Somethings wrong." Glenn said as he once again peeked out the window. "He should have been back by now." Beth watched anxiously as he stalked back and forth.
"We should go after him." Bob said and Sasha glared at him.
"Are you crazy it's dark out. It's too risky you could get hurt." She said as she glanced around the room. "Face the facts Daryl s dead." Beth sucked in a sharp breath as Maggie and Sasha started arguing. Silently Beth rose to her feet her hand balled into a fist against her small baby bump that no one has noticed.
"Daryl is not dead." She interrupted causing every head in the room to turn towards her. " I know he's alive. He's to stubborn to just die do you hear me? he's out there and need our help!" She turned on her heel and stomped up the stairs. She slammed her bedroom door open and nearly screamed when she spotted the figure sitting on her bed.
"Damn I was wandering when you was gonna come up here. Been waiting over an hour." Daryl snapped. Beth lurched forward tackling him to the bed her face buried into his neck.
"We was fixing to come after you. we where so worried something had happened." Daryl was frozen his teeth grinding together as he clenched his jaw.
"Get off of me Beth." He snapped and she jerked back.
"Sorry. I was just worried." She whispered. Daryl snorted as he rose from the bed picking up a bag. He shoved it into her arms.
"I didn't want the others to see this." He muttered as he walked to the door.
"What is it?" Beth asked and he glanced over his shoulder.
"Some stuff for the baby. A few outfits...some pills ya suppose to be taking things like that." Beth smiled slightly as she gripped the bag to her chest tightly.
"Thank you." She whispered but he didn't respond he simply walked away. Again.
