It was dark, so dark she could barley see her fingers when she raked them over her face. And it was quiet. The only sounds was her racing heart as she fumbled around in the darkness.
"Daryl?" She whispered. No answer. "Daryl!" This time she screamed. Something shuffled in front of her and she froze. It hissed, something that sounded like bones snapped as it shuffled closer. Beth frantically walked backwards but something tripped her and she fell flat on her back. She felt something grab her ankle and she screamed just seconds before teeth ripped through her flesh."Wake up God damnit!" Daryl snapped as he roughly yanked a thrashing Beth up into a sitting position, shaking her until her eyes flashed open. "Easy, jus a dream is all." He mumbled when her fear filled eyes meet his.
"I...I..." Beth gasped and frantically yanked her ripped pants legs up checking her bare leg for bites. "It felt so real." She whispered. "I felt it's teeth ripping at me." Daryl shook her again causing her teeth to rattle.
"It was jus a fuckin dream now snap the he'll outta it." Beth's eyes narrowed at the harshness of his words but she nodded none the less.
"Sorry." She snapped back before she yanked away from his hold and rose to her feet. She glanced around the small living room of the trailer they had found after she had tried to leave on her own. It ran off well water and there had been a generator in the back that Daryl had coaxed into life. By brute force. She smirked, he had kicked, cussed and finally took a hammer to the old thing before it sputtered to life. It was the best day of her life. A hot shower. Which she hadn't been able to take advantage of yet, for she had fallen asleep waiting for the water to heat up.
" How long was I asleep?" She asked as Daryl rose to his feet beside her.
"Hour or so." He replied as he stalked over to the table and sank down, hands reaching for his bow that he had been cleaning when the damned girl nearly gave him a heart attack. Beth watched as he ran a cloth around his bow.
"I'm gonna take a shower." She told him. No reply. Not even a glance to let her know he heard her. " Then I'm gonna run around out side for abit." Still nothing. "Naked." His head snapped up and she laughed at the look on his face.
"Dont joke like that. There are some sick people left in this world." Beth huffed.
"Yeah yeah...I'm more worried about you." His eyes narrowed and she smirked at him. "I mean you are a man. And I'm a defenceless little girl as you call me. Who's to say you want try to take advantage of me." Daryl slammed his bow down and lurched out of the chair so fast it slammed to the floor.
"I ain't no rapist!" He bellowed. "You stupid little hitch. I ought to knock some damned sense into that pretty little head of yours." He stalked closer causing her to back into the wall. Her mind registered the threat but her body only registered the fact that her was getting closer and he had called her pretty.
It wasn't until he was directly in front of her that she became scared he might actually act on his threat. He slammed a fist into the wall directly beside her left ear causing her to flinch. Her eyes closed and she could feel him taking deep breaths trying to calm himself down.
"I'm sorry." She whispered reaching out and hesitantly placing her hand on his shaking arm. He flinched violently his eyes snapping open.
"Every fuckin body thinks im a sorry dumb ass redneck trailer trash and I'm fuckin sick of it! I risked my life every damned day for you people! I lost my brother because of y'all." Beth remained silent as he vented, fingers curled around his biceps and squeezed the tight muscle. His arm flinched and he yanked it away. "And you...you think I would rape ya. Your out of your fuckin mind. I wouldn't take you if you was willing and begging me to do it. You disgust me."
He turned his back to her and she curled her hands into fist.
"I'm sorry okay!"She yelled. "I was outta line. Never should have said what I did. You...you..." The anger went out of her as she slumped down the wall. "Your not the only one who lost Merle ya know." He turned towards her as she drew her knees up to her chest, wrapping her arms around them. "Daddy told me to stay away from him, said he was bad. But I didn't listen. I used to sneak into his cell at night." Daryls eyes widened and she shook her head. "Not for that." She snorted. "We talked is all. We talked a lot. Merle was an ass, he was rude a lot too but he was the only one who treated me like I wasn't a little kid. He talked to me like an adult." Her eyes locked onto Daryl and she smiled slightly. "I liked him. A lot. The day you told us he had turned...I thought that was it for me. If someone as tough as merle could be defeated by this world what chance did I have. That was the first night I cried in a long time." She sighed.
"Merle was my friend." She whispered, Daryl cocked and eyebrow at the girl and keeled down in front of her.
"Prove it." He said softly and she nodded, placing her chin on her knees.
"Merle told me about your dad." She whispered. Daryl stiffened as she looked at him with sadness in her eyes. "He told me that he used to bet on him. Said he was drunk and would take a leather belt or what ever was closest and beat Merle till he couldn't stand. He said that's why he stayed in jail. Said he couldn't take it no more. He...He didnt know your dad was doing it to you too or he said he would have stayed." Daryl stiffened as Beth reached out and touched his knee. "I know you have a lot of anger inside you, and I know you think your trash but your not. Your a good man Daryl. You'll outlive us all." She smiled weakly as she stood. "I'm sorry." She felt a tear roll down her cheek and she wiped it away furiously.
"I'm gonna go take a shower now." She whispered and he nodded, not moving from his crouched position. Beth turned on her heel and frantically found her some reasonably clean clothes and ran to the bathroom, slamming the door behind her. She gasped as tears ran down her face and the more she wiped at them the more leaked out of her eyes. On a broken sob she fell to the floor.
I'm so stupid. She thought as she sat there. Daryl hates me now. And that thought had the tears coming in buckets and her chest tightening painfully. A sharp knock on the door sounded but she ignored it. A second and the. a third came but still she sat there and cried."Damn it Beth open the fuckin door now." Daryl yelled.
"Go away!" She screamed as she wrapped her arms around her self. The door shook on its hinges and she lurched towards the bathtub right before it flew open. Daryl lowered his foot, chest heaving as Beth slowly rose to her feet glaring at him.
"Who in the shell do you think you are? I could have been naked!" She demanded as he stalked towards her.
"Shut up." Her eyes widened as he got closer and her hand balled into a fist.
"Dont tell me to shut up you arrogant jerk. You are not my daddy." Daryl cocked an eyebrow and smirked as he stopped in front of her.
"Good damned thing for that." He.muttered and before she could respond his hands shot out and framed her small face roughly, his lips covering hers.
Ok it kinda sucked I know but I had a lot going on today and not enough time to really plan out this chapter. I promise the next one will be ten times better it will have a lot of action and a little bit of a steamy encounter between Beth and Daryl. also I need to know if anyone wants this story to be r rated *hint hint* I want to write this story how my readers want it to be. So let me know and thank you for reading it means so much to me. I dedicate this chapter to all of you who commented on my story.
