chapter 8- jealous Draco
I had had half of my lessons today and was currently sitting with Ginny in a free we had before our lesson with Umbridge. Ginny looked up from her book.
“you seem very pally with my brother and his friends.” she said.
“is someone jealous?” I asked her laughing.
“no it's just weird I've only seen you talk to them a few times.”
“oh come on Ginny you know you will always be my favourite Weasley, unless Fred and George are around then I choose them.” at this she threw a pillow at me as I left.
“i'm joking Ginny, they are in my year we just have things in common is all.” I told her as she resumed to reading her book.
“you know I'm here for you.” she said putting her book down and looking up at me. “i'm here for you when you need me, if you need me you don't always have to be independent.” this was the first time Ginny had ever said anything like this, it's probably been planned ever since Cedric died she just probably didn't want to provoke me or hurt me further my telling me, i'm quite independent. I got up and went over to her and hugger her, she looked up at me surprised.
“yes Ginny I am still capable of a hug, and thank you Ginny I know you are and when the day comes that I want to talk about it you will be the first I come to.” I told her, I knew this was false Draco had already helped me through it but Ginny was like my sister but no matter how close we are I still can't tell her about Draco.
“so you ready for your lesson with Umbridge next?” she asked me changing the subject.
“can't wait.” I said faking excitement.
“you ready for a lecture, a talk...”
“a badly bruised hand.” I added in.
“that to.” Ginny said.
“her cause in life is to scare us but if i'm not scared then I won't be given her the satisfaction.”
“i like how you think.”
“i know.” I looked at the time. “well I must go face the music as they say in the muggle world because it is time for Umbridge's lesson, see you later.” I said walking out of the common room.
I arrived at Umbridge's lesson and took my seat, which just happened to be next to Draco. He went to speak to me as Umbridge walked in.
“afternoon class, please turn to page 112 and start writing out the page.” she said smiling.
“and how will this help us?” I heard someone say although I couldn't tell who it was.”
“well it will help you memorise the information of course.” she looked up and her eyes made contact with mine and she smiled.
“Miss Cliff can I please talk to you in my office.” I got up and walked towards her as I saw Harry, Hermione and Ron look at me as I went up the stairs, into her office and she closed the door.
“now I know this is a very upsetting time for you Miss Cliff but there is still no exception for you walking out of my class yesterday.”
“i know i'm sorry about that professor Umbridge.” I told her.
“as you should be, if I have one student walking out of my class then the rest of my students will think it is completely acceptable to do the same.”
“i'm sorry for that.” I said repeating what I said before.
“i know you are, but never the less I will see you back here in my office at five o clock for your punishment Miss Cliff.”
“yes Professor Umbridge.” I said a I left her office and returned to my seat, one could only guess what the punishment be.
I picked up my quill and started writing out the page which Umbridge had instructed us to do so.
“so you and Harry?” Draco whispered as I sent a sideways glance at him. “i saw you this morning coming into the great hall together.”
“Harry is my friend.”
“i didn't think you were that close.”
“it seems we have more in common that we fought.”
“the death of Cedric?” Draco said as I looked at him. “i'm not arguing over the fact that i'm friends with Harry you already knew that Draco it's not like it is news now please stop talking and let me get on with my work.” I told him sternly, what right does he have to bring up Cedric especially in the middle of our class.
“what did Umbridge want?” he asked me.
“nothing that you need to know now be quiet.” I told him.
“is there a problem Miss Cliff.” I heard as I looked up to see Umbridge standing behind me.
“no Professor I was just reading the book to help me memorise it.”
“yes it's becoming very annoying.” I heard Draco say from beside me.
“precisely.” Umbridge said as she walked away from us.
