Chapter 9- I must not leave lessons without permission

I had returned to the common room after my lesson sitting down with Ron, Hermione and Harry.

“what did Umbridge want?” Harry asked me as Ginny cam over and joined us.

“what are we talking about?” Ginny asked as she sat down next to me.

“we were just asking Amanda why Umbridge called her into her office?” Ginny turned to me.

“why did Umbridge take you into her office?”

“she just gave me a stern telling off for leaving her classroom the other day.”

“what did you say?”

“i told her I was sorry.”

“well at least you got off light.” Ron said.

“not that light.” I said as they all looked at me. “even though I apologised Umbridge still said that some punishment had to be carried out to set an example to every other student who may think it is alright to leave her lesson.”

“meaning?” Ron said.

“meaning Amanda has to return to see her.” Harry said looking at me.

“i have to go see her at five for my punishment.”

“but you know what is going to happen.” Hermione said. “she's going to give you the same punishment that she gave to Harry.”

“i know Hermione, trust me it's not something I want.”

“then we must tell Dumbledore.” she said.

“no.” I told her as she looked at me with disbelief. “that would be given her the satisfaction that she wants so instead I will take the punishment nothing wrong with a bit of pain.”

“there's everything wrong with it.” Hermione said as she stormed off to the dormitory.

“i would go and try to calm her down and explain to her, but I will be late for my appointment with Umbridge.” I told the rest of the group.

“don't worry I will go see her.” Ginny said.

“well why you?” Ron replied.

“it's the girls dormitory you wouldn't be able to get inside if you tried Ron.” Ginny told him.

“oh right, forgot about that.”

“thank you Ginny.” I told her as I left for Umbridge's classroom.

I knocked on Umbridge's door and waited.

“come in.” she shouted from inside as I opened the door.

“tea?” she asked me holding up her tea pot and a mug.

“no thank you.” I told her.

“hmmm, well I shall have some.” she said pouring some tea which was as pink as the rest of her room into her pink mug. Everything in her room was pink everything down to her pink outfit, and cats lots and lots of pictures of cats.

“please take a seat Miss Cliff.” she said as I sat down in her seat.

“for your punishment i'm going to ask you to do some lines.” she said placing a piece of paper a long with a quill in front of me.

“what am I writing?” I asked her.

“i must not leave lessons without permission.”

“how many times I asked her?”

“just once, I don't think we will have any room left, but surely the message will be given across.” I looked down at the piece of paper in front of me and it was fair to say that there was enough room for more then one line. I then looked at the quill and instantly though of Harry's hand, I looked down at my hand there was defintley not enough room for more then one line.

“of course.” I said as I picked up the quill.

“i need some ink.” I told her.

“oh no, my quill is special.” oh it is special alright.

I began to write out the words that she had told me to, as I reached the word not I felt my hand begin to sting, I looked onto my right hand to see the words appearing on my hand.

“something wrong?” Umbridge said.

“no professor.” I said as I continued writing trying not to give her the satisfaction of hearing me wince, I finished my sentence and put the quill down.

“all done?” Umridge asked me.

“yes.” I told her.

“and I'm sure you learnt your lesson.”

“yes.”

“well then you can go Miss Cliff.” she said opening the door as I walked out. “I hope that you don't have to be punished again and that you understand what is expected of you.”

“of course.” I said as I left the room.
