I decided to give Vera a lazy day.

I was going to gather some supplies and groceries with Tyler and one of our newest recruits, Luke.

Luke was new but we had hit it off and he's probably one of my closest friends now.

"Del, get your smurf ass downstairs so we can leave."

"Yeah puckface, we agreed we'd leave at 2, it's now 3." I threw on a plain white tee, blue hoodie, and regular jeans.

I ran downstairs and I spot the two boys lounging on the couch, taking sips of their beer.

"Let's go delinquents," I ordered.

"Tyler, how long does it take to pick cologne?" I groaned

"Tyler, how long does it take to pick cologne?" I groaned. We had spent around 20 minutes in the cosmetics aisle, searching for Tyler's "perfect deodorant".

"I want something that's subtle but will also attract some ladies, you feel me," he wiggles his eyebrows in a suggestive motion. Luke whacks him on the head.

"Too bad the only thing you attract are flies," Luke cockily grins at Tyler and I stifle a laugh. The tall make scowls and mumbles as he grabs a stick from the shelf.

We continued on with our shopping trip. I picked up some strawberries as Vera mentioned she loved them, along with other nourishments.

Tyler left after purchasing his cologne to get supplies from a dealer, he had a larger and tougher appearance which would make bartering easier.

We were waiting on line to pay when Luke suddenly spoke up.

"I see the way you look at Vera. What do you think of her as?" That was a question I didn't know the answer to.

"A friend."

Luke was an understanding guy and so he nodded and simply replied with, "Let me know if that changes." He left me alone on the subject after that.

On the car ride home, I reached into my pocket to call Tyler, only to realize I left my phone at home

On the car ride home, I reached into my pocket to call Tyler, only to realize I left my phone at home. Although, I trusted Vera not to do something foolish like call the police, I feared she would pick up on a call that would put her in danger.

I told Luke to drive faster and I had urgent business at home. He didn't question it and stepped on the pedal.

I fumbled with the warehouse keys and I swiftly unlocked the door. It was freakishly quiet and I became worried.

"Vera?"

"Vera?"
