The atmosphere back at camp was heavy and filled with regret. Nova felt utterly drained and absent from any feeling of life. She busied herself, taking her turn as watch guard. She stared into the Forrest for hours, barely moving.
"Still can't sleep?" A soft voice spoke from behind Nova, a voice Nova recognised as Bellamy Blake's.
"Think I have insomnia." Nova joked, turning around to face Bellamy with a smile that wasn't reciprocated. Bellamy wore a large frown and bloodshot eyes.
Nova and Bellamy stared at each other for what felt like an eternity. Neither of them saying a word as the nights tragic events played like a movie in front of them.
"We couldn't save her Bellamy. She's dead because of us." Nova finally whispered. That's when the tears started to fall. Hundreds of heavy tears fell down Novas cheek as Bellamy took one long stride, closing the space between them and wrapping his arms around the girl in one tight embrace.
Bellamy didn't know what to do or say so he just tightened his arms and let Novas sobs carry them into the night.
Later that evening, Nova was back in her cramped tent, lying uncomfortably next to a sleeping Octavia. Her mind finally started to enter the world of sleep when the yells of delinquents ripped her away from comfort.
"Octavia, wake up, somethings going on outside." Nova said, shaking the unconscious brunette by her shoulders.
"Wh...what is it?" Octavia said sleepily.
"Let's go and find out."Nova winced as the cold air hit her bare arms and immediately retreated to Octavia for warmth.
Nova followed the crowds gaze towards the sky where she saw a plummeting space shuttle. Relief filled her entire being as she let her mind wonder to the endless possibilities that the space craft could be carrying.
"Bellamy get out here." Octavia yelled. Nova tore her eyes away from the star littered sky to see the eldest Blake emerge from the tent with a girl on each arm. A strange feeling warped its way around Novas body. A feeling that made her cheeks flush and her tiny hands curl into fists.
Bellamy met her gaze for a split second but immediately turned away and released his hand from one of the half-dressed girls.
"It's coming to help us."
"Now we can kick some grounder ass." Crowd goers spoke with glee.
"Please tell me they brought down some shampoo." One of Bellamy's companions spoke obnoxiously causing Nova to turn around.
"You know, I heard using your own urine is good for washing hair. Makes it soft and gives it shine, you should try it." The brunette spat causing Octavia to let out a loud laugh."If it cleared the ridge it's probably near the lake."
Nova, for the most peculiar reason, had found herself in Bellamy's tent, discussing options regarding the space shuttle. Although, she kept herself at a far distance from Bellamy, sending evil glances his way every couple of minutes."We should go now, before the Grounders get there first." Nova suggested.
"No ones going anywhere, not while it's dark. It isn't safe. We head out at first light, pass the word." Bellamy orders one of his men.
"Everyone from a hundred miles saw this thing, what if the Grounders get their first?" Octavia asked, promptly taking Novas side.
"She's right, I'll get my stuff and then I'll go." Nova said, wanting nothing more than to get out of camp.
"No way. Nobody leaves this camp. Especially not you two." Bellamy said. Octavia and Nova give each other wary glances before Bellamy strode out of the tent.
"You thinking what I'm thinking Blake?" Nova smirked at Octavia.
"Definitely." Octavia smiled back.Nova and Octavia tip-toed around the outskirts of camp, trying to go unnoticed by the other juveniles. It was working perfectly until the duo reached the gate.
"He....hey Finn, Clarke, how's it going." Nova asked awkwardly.
"What are you too up to now?" Clarke asked Octavia and Nova.
"We were going to find the space shuttle, Bellamy said no one leaves camp until first light." Octavia blabbed.
"You would make a terrible spy." Nova huffed."So you two were going to go into the Forrest, on your own?" Finn questioned.
"Enough with the judging Mr Collins. Octavia, why don't you set off and I will catch up." Nova said, turning to Octavia with a promising smile. Octavia nodded before side-stepping Clarke and running off into the Forrest.
"So, where were you two?" Nova asked, wanting to change the subject. However, Nova didn't get the mundane answer she expected, Finn and Clarke looked at each other sheepishly, guilt seeping out of Finns pours.
"Oh my god. Are you freaking kidding me Finn?!" Nova asked furiously, understanding where the duo had been and what they had been doing.
Clarke looked utterly confused while Finn looked shameful.
"We don't have time for this, me and Finn are going to find the pod and you can stay here and watch over camp." Clarke ordered."I don't take orders from you Clarke." Nova spat, taking all the anger and rage that she knew her best friend would be feeling if she where here.
"Um Clarke, could you give us a minute?" Finn asked.
"Sure, I'll go and get some supply's." Clarke said, still confused by Novas reaction."Tell me you didn't Finn. Tell me you didn't cheat on Raven." Nova pleaded.
Finn stared at the ground, avoiding Novas harsh gaze."After all you've been through together and you waited two weeks until you slept with somebody else?" Nova asked, hopping with anger and raising her voice.
"It's not like we're ever going to see her again Nova, the communication systems fried. You said it your self, there's no way of fixing it. It just happened." Finn tried to reason with the seething girl.
"You're absolutely full of shi..."
"You ready to go?" Clarke said, returning with two backpacks.
"Yeah I'm ready." Finn said quietly.
"Nova, since you don't take orders are you coming?" Clarke asked.Nova turned to the blonde with a straight face, "I would literally rather lick my own faeces than go with you two."
Nova turned on her heal and walked briskly back into the middle of camp, each step filled with rage.
