"So...this is cozy." Nova smiled at the rest of the group sarcastically. She was wedged between Jasper and Finn underneath the giant parachute.
"How long are we supposed to wait?" Jasper asked.
"Will this even work?"
"We'll find out." Finn said omnisciently."
A beat passed.
"No we won't." Bellamy said, peaking his head out from underneath the parachute.
"There's no fog."
Nova let out a sigh of relief before jumping out of the fabric and taking a deep breath of fresh air.
"Thank god, it was getting hot in there."
"Shh, there's another one." Finn said, pointing in the direction of the grounder.Nova studied the Grounder intently, watching the way he moves and the large steps he takes.
"I think he's alone." Monroe said.
"He doesn't see us, I'm going after him." Bellamy says naively.
"And what, kill him?"
"No, he can tell me where Octavia is, then we kill him."Finn and Nova stared at each other in worry as Bellamy marched after the lone Grounder.
The group had stealthily followed the grounder until nightfall, before leading them into an underground bunker.
Nova watched intently as the Grounder entered the bunker with ease."What's the plan?" Jasper asked.
"We get Octavia, kill the grounder and then leave." Bellamy said abruptly."That sounds like a well-thought out, thought provoking plan Blake." Nova fired.
"Yeah, you have a better one?"
"Of course I do..."The group had formed an orderly queue behind Nova at the bunker door.
The small brunette opened the hatch soundlessly and shimmied through the small gap until her feet reached the stone floor.
The smell of mildew and mold made her eyes water as she made her way through the bunker, Bellamy swiftly behind her."Nova? Bellamy?" Octavia whispered.
Nova let out a laugh of relief as Bellamy raced to unchain his sister.Novas attention was quickly taken away from the reunion at the sight of the unconscious Grounder that lay limp on the floor.
Nova knelt down to stare at his face.
"Nice work Octavia." Nova said, tracing the gash on his head with her finger."We should go now, before he wakes up." Octavia spoke urgently, rubbing her wrists where the chains had been.
"He's not going to wake up, Nova get away from him." Bellamy said, aiming a spear at the Grounder."Why, Octavia did a pretty good job at keeping him down." Nova smiled. She was fascinated at the paint on the Grounders face. The way the markings curve around his eyes effortlessly. It was war paint and Nova couldn't look away.
"Bellamy stop, he didn't hurt me so let's just go."
"No but he started it, now Nova." Bellamy ordered.
But Nova didn't move. Finn knelt down next to her, picking up a long tube like object.
"What is it?"
"The fog horn..."Darkness consumed Nova. Devoured her. Enclosed her.
She heard the ringing in her head before the pain hit. Immense pain. The Grounder had thrown her back in a matter of seconds. He did it with such strength and ease that her head hit the floor before the rest of her body. She tried opening her eyes but could only see black dots flashing in front of her vision.
She reached a small hand to the back of her head and when she pulled away felt a sticky wetness that could only be blood.
"Mother fu..."
"Nova, wake up." Jasper spoke softly, prompting the girl to open her eyes.Nova let her vision adjust to the darkness slowly and saw the aftermath of chaos.
"Finn!!" Nova said, wincing as she crawled over to the boy.
Her shaking hand wavered around the knife protruding from his chest."No no no no, you can't die on me Finn, not today, please don't shut your eyes okay, for me and Raven.
Nova felt a warm hand on her back.
"We need to get him back to camp and you could have concussion." Bellamy spoke softly. It was in that moment Nova remembered the throbbing. She weakly stood up, and nodded.
"Be careful with him." Nova said to Bellamy and Jasper who lifted Finn off of the ground.Octavia took Novas arm in her own and led her out of the bunker. Her knees were weak and her injury made her dizzy.
"Please be okay." Nova pleaded to the abyss.
