Caitlyn Thomas is terrified to start kindergarten until she makes a new friend in an unexpected place. Follow Cait and her newfound friend, Carter Anderson, through their school years, watch them mature and discover the world around them.
Caitlyn parks her car and walks to the picnic bench where Lianna is sitting and texting. "Hey Lee!" She greets cheerily, Lianna keeps looking at her phone but waves and hands Caitlyn a bluebell before putting one finger up.
Caitlyn, used to her best friend's weirdness, stares at the flowers for a moment trying to not cry. Then she just sits and looks around. She catches sight of her ex-boyfriend, Alex, who waves awkwardly before jogging over to the basketball court. "Okay! Done!" Lianna announces, slamming her phone on the table, Caitlyn winces in fear of the phone's possible fate. "Hi Cait!" Lianna greets, grinning at her best friend.
"Lemme guess Tommy?" Caitlyn asks referring to her best friend's kinda-not-quite boyfriend, Lianna shakes her head.
"Nope. Carter." She exclaims Caitlyn's breath catches at the name. "He was telling me about his and Sara's break-up yesterday." She explains, Caitlyn's heart flutters at the news. "Anyways!" Lianna says brightly, "Ready for our last year?"
Caitlyn nods, "Oh totally!" She exclaims, Lianna grins.
And boy was she ready! She was so ready to get out of Milly (Emilia) (her step-mom) and her dad's house, and back to Carter, maybe. We'll see how their story continues.
